Football Head Coach

Not lecturing, just giving my opinion. You’re free to think it stinks. Doesn’t hurt my feelings.

We’ll announce our coach and I’ll be excited because we are that much closer to fielding our team in 2013. If some can’t get past the fact that he’s not Amato, that’s their problem.
found this on Lambert:

Lambert is one of the good guys in this business, and coach Jim Grobe was just raving about him on Wednesday. Lambert will get his head coaching opportunity eventually, but it’s good news for the Deacs that he’ll be sticking around. He’s one of the best recruiters on the staff, and is a major reason behind the program’s success during Grobe’s tenure.

Nice find.

I always found Amato to be really annoying on TV…I cant be the only one?

Anyways, I dont care who it is, I’ll support him until I get a reason not to. Just excited to be able to go out and tailgate and watch my U. Its getting real, guys.

Wake Forest Depth Chart for 2010:

Tough to win when you start 2 seniors and 1 Junior. Secondary is 3 freshmen and a sophomore, bad things happen.

If it is Lambert - then fine I will of course support him.

With that said nothing about him really excites me. I mean if we were are pulling a D1 asst I would have preferred he come from a school with more pedigree than WF. Or hire a successful FCS HC. He just doesn’t get me pumped and if he doesn’t get me pumped then he sure won’t get the general public excited. He might be a fine coach but we have to wait until 2013 to find that out and hope that he can rally the troops until then.

If he was the best of the “hundreds” that were interested that doesn’t say much.

FYI: You’ve not heard me say I won’t “get past it” if Amato isn’t hired. I will get past it. I’m a Niner from wayyyyy back and will remain one. I have my FSLs.This doesn’t mean I won’t think bringing in a no-name (if we do) is a horrible decision. These things are not mutually exclusive. In fact, I hope our “no-name” becomes a huge name and great success, however I think the likelihood of not “exciting the community” is 10-fold with someone like this and imo creating a major buzz in this community should be priority 1 for this program. Also, I’d like to remind everyone that Judy has said the same thing many times (ie; “the most important job of our 1st coach is to sell this team to the community even before the team takes the field”). Given this, how can anyone claim hiring Brad Lambert is going to help us towards that end, moreso than a Chuck Amato “type”?

The D Coach who gave up 48 to Duke & 52 to Sac St. Hell no! I say we all kill ourselves or support a CH Med School in Charlotte if that happens.

Well put.

How do you know this?
No information seems to be leaking anywhere.

oops, wrong thread

we haven’t heard about other coaching prospects as they could have clauses in their contract that call for termination if they are named in a coaching search at another institution.

How does this rule Amato out?
Just wondering if there is info out there I have missed.

you need to draw in the city of charlotte that is priority #1 if you wanna go bcs any time soon. But looking at it from a “Judy/CHP” perspective an Amato type would create too much success too early, and too much city buzz and would build pressure for BCS which THEY(mostly CHP) don’t want. We can all see where the problem lies.

I believe i mentioned this when I said Amato back in January. So very possible.

Just heard that Amato isn’t in the mix, no reason not to believe where I heard it from.

One down

wow… just…wow.

what if Lambert is our best available option?

wow… just…wow.
While I don’t really believe this, it’s not hard to believe that at times the AD and CHP would rather see us fail so that they can be right. In this case though it doesn’t make sense because both CHP’s and Judy’s name are attached to this program and will be dragged down if we fail.

No doubt that if we hire him that is what the AD will say. IMO if Lambert really is the best available then the job was not near as attractive as we were lead to believe and what we all thought it would be.
