Not lecturing, just giving my opinion. Youâre free to think it stinks. Doesnât hurt my feelings.
Weâll announce our coach and Iâll be excited because we are that much closer to fielding our team in 2013. If some canât get past the fact that heâs not Amato, thatâs their problem.
[font=verdana]Lambert is one of the good guys in this business, and coach Jim Grobe was just raving about him on Wednesday. Lambert will get his head coaching opportunity eventually, but itâs good news for the Deacs that heâll be sticking around. Heâs one of the best recruiters on the staff, and is a major reason behind the programâs success during Grobeâs tenure.

I always found Amato to be really annoying on TVâŚI cant be the only one?
Anyways, I dont care who it is, Iâll support him until I get a reason not to. Just excited to be able to go out and tailgate and watch my U. Its getting real, guys.
If it is Lambert - then fine I will of course support him.
With that said nothing about him really excites me. I mean if we were are pulling a D1 asst I would have preferred he come from a school with more pedigree than WF. Or hire a successful FCS HC. He just doesnât get me pumped and if he doesnât get me pumped then he sure wonât get the general public excited. He might be a fine coach but we have to wait until 2013 to find that out and hope that he can rally the troops until then.
If he was the best of the âhundredsâ that were interested that doesnât say much.

FYI: Youâve not heard me say I wonât âget past itâ if Amato isnât hired. I will get past it. Iâm a Niner from wayyyyy back and will remain one. I have my FSLs.This doesnât mean I wonât think bringing in a no-name (if we do) is a horrible decision. These things are not mutually exclusive. In fact, I hope our âno-nameâ becomes a huge name and great success, however I think the likelihood of not âexciting the communityâ is 10-fold with someone like this and imo creating a major buzz in this community should be priority 1 for this program. Also, Iâd like to remind everyone that Judy has said the same thing many times (ie; âthe most important job of our 1st coach is to sell this team to the community even before the team takes the fieldâ). Given this, how can anyone claim hiring Brad Lambert is going to help us towards that end, moreso than a Chuck Amato âtypeâ?
we havenât heard about other coaching prospects as they could have clauses in their contract that call for termination if they are named in a coaching search at another institution.
you need to draw in the city of charlotte that is priority #1 if you wanna go bcs any time soon. But looking at it from a âJudy/CHPâ perspective an Amato type would create too much success too early, and too much city buzz and would build pressure for BCS which THEY(mostly CHP) donât want. We can all see where the problem lies.
While I donât really believe this, itâs not hard to believe that at times the AD and CHP would rather see us fail so that they can be right. In this case though it doesnât make sense because both CHPâs and Judyâs name are attached to this program and will be dragged down if we fail.
No doubt that if we hire him that is what the AD will say. IMO if Lambert really is the best available then the job was not near as attractive as we were lead to believe and what we all thought it would be.
