FSU Postgame

We’re not a very good basketball program anymore.
Went on a sales call today and made a big sale. Got so excited I beat my chest a few times, yelled a couple of times and started talking s*** to a few other salesmen in the lobby. Got ejected from the building.

You would have tought it was my first successful sales call…
Did you run around the middle of the lobby and scream “we’re back!!!”, then proceed to lose business on the next 6 out of 7 sales calls you made?

yeah. because we are the only good team to lose big this season. we are the only program to get blown out by fsu. overreact much?

I’ve been thinking the same thing all day. So we laid the biggest turd in the history of the program. How do we handle it and in which way do we go next? FSU no doubt had our number but the way we played was pretty embarrassing IMO.

It was very disappointing to see the “ME” side of Henry, it was very disappointing to see our coaching staff standing there looking helpless, and it was somewhat disappointing to see Willie then throw that elbow when he knew we had to have him in the game.

Hopefully our players and coaching staff learned from this negative experience. If so, we may be ok. If not, we might as well start looking forward to baseball.

Henry being ejected was a bit much. I know the rules are more picky but that was dumb. FSU was fast and just kept striking, we just never could recover after them driving the ball early. That was a hard arena to play in. The season is far from over and lets see what happens, hope the boys regroup, move past the game, and grow from it.

we have to remember, all the things we love about henry and clayton, the physicality, the toughness, etc., are also the same qualities that lead into some of the things we don’t like, i.e., the dirty play, the “me” attitude, the trash talking. it is a fine line between one and the other. we had the same issue with demon brown. he was a clutch, tough kid from the streets of baltimore who was not intimitated by anyone but that also spilled over into some of his personal issues. sometimes you have to take the good with the bad.

I don’t think this is an issue of PH having a “me” side as much as PH not realizing that it was time to turn it off.

I think he was trying to show some fire and give a spark to the rest of the team, and he just pushed it too far. This isn’t the type of thing that I see happening again.

from what very little i know abt PH’s up-bringing, i have in mind a tough, tough kid who has seen the way out and is deadly determined. from what i can see in willie and his background, i have in mind a guy who absolutely LUVS the game and gets pumped and pumped and pumped!
i love both of their approaches! i hope they get it under control, but just as much, i hope they keep on playing their games!!

I think we do have some GOOD NEWS from this game. From what I could tell, it looked like we were going to probably lose regardless. But the way we lost became a LEARNING EXPERIENCE. I doubt PH (or anyone else) pulls a stunt like that again and my guess is Willie backs away from throwing those high elbows. Hopefully, this game will pull the team together and get us pointed in the right direction again.

Hey, I’d want to get kicked out of a butt whoopin’ too.

What can you learn by losing that you can’t learn while winning?
Humility?

The duke score could have been worse, but k called off the dogs and hamilton ran up the score. They were out for blood.

PH moved into 5th all-time in steals. Gotta find a bright spot somewhere.

How bad it sucks to lose. That feeling can be a pretty powerful motivator.

I love PH’s game as a rule and am not trying to be a douche and come down on him, he is 21ish and we all did things at 21 that we probably aren’t really proud of.

BUT, let’s not mistake playing tough and not being intimidated with being stupid. He made a ESPN Top 10 play (IMO) and then taunted. OK, I get that a little, I guess, if I were down 24 at that point I’d just shoot my FT. But the second, he just wouldn’t STFU. He deserved it bigtime and I would have ran him too if I had been reffing.

But it showed me that he has passion and pride for who he is and the team he plays for. I have no problem with it. If we were in a close game it would have been dumb to do, but the game was already decided. It is the guys that don’t get pissed and fiery that I worry about. Notice that he didn’t looked confused or mad that he got tossed. He knew it was coming. I know many may disagree, but this could be a leader showing the team that it is not ok to lose like that.

My only issue with that is that with him we may have been able to keep it 16-20 and not get totally embarrassed on National TV. Game was over, but that play could have sparked a run where we kept it somewhat respectable. Maybe not, who knows.

Hootie, it was already 30 something, PH had nothing to play for.

I started rooting for more ejections. I wanted to see us have to play with only 4 guys eligible & on the floor, then people would at least feel sympathy for us.
