I’m surprised Judy hasn’t embraced CBI/CIT in B-Ball or WBI in WBB yet.
We haven’t been good enough to make those tournaments
Didn’t Oregon St buy in their way with a losing record one time?
Frost will change his tune once he settles in at Lincoln- His AD will make sure of that.
PS: Here’s all you need to know from the current ‘Godfather’ of college football-"…Alabama coach Nick Saban has been saying for a while he prefers the Power Five play only itself."

clt says karen is keeping the program low to keep pace with the men.
clt says people want to watch the “P5” play other teams.

The CBI and CIT pay tournys - you have to buy your way in no matter your record. I am kinda of surprised we haven’t played in them just so Judy could claim post season.

Can’t afford to do that when SHE’s spending all of OUR money on employees that don’t work here anymore.
Marshall beatwriter Doug Smock chimes in.
I was previously in support of this idea. Mack brown telling me to know my role makes me want to punch him in the throat. Damn a G5 playoff.
I would be okay with that if it doesn’t exclude a non P5 from making the 6 team playoff as the at large. Of course a non P5 probably wouldn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of being selected for the P5 playoffs but that’s already the case so having 6 teams would at least theoretically give them a better chance of making it. I would prefer a playoff of G5 teams to meaningless bowls but wouldn’t want it to prevent a G5 from making it to the national championship playoffs if they deserve to be there.
Because everyone cares about and follows the FCS playoffs.
Mostly agree, but fcs had wayy too much disparity. You had schools woth fbs quality facilities and g5 levek budgets playing against a lit if schools with high school quality facilities and no scholarships.
G5 fanbases in general are bigger with the same number.of scholarships and similar facilities.
I wouldn’t mind a G5 playoff, but onltly id the highest rated g5 was guaranteed a playoff spot in the regular playoff.
Make the 6th at large team the highest rated G5 & have a G5 playoff for the top 6 or 8 G5’s that are left.
clt doesn’t care what Mack brown thinks. Hope appy kicks their buttt
Little does Mack Brown realize this would relegate UNC CH football to G5 status. They aren’t one of the big dogs. Hell, they probably aren’t even a top 50 program. This would just ensure more 3-4 win seasons for them.
I think the whole idea is dumb. A lot of mid-tier and bottom-tier P5 teams could not beat good G5 programs. There are only 15 or so P5 programs that are far ahead of everyone else in FBS.
I agree. I think it’s dumb. To set up a system in which the tar holes go 5-18 over the past two years (including fcs losses, etc.), but would have more of a chance at a playoff than a 25-1 UCF is laughable. This is just someone who is trying to make his own job easier and isn’t grounded in logic. “I don’t have to worry about the UCFs, Boise States, Houstons, Marshalls, etc. They won’t get any good recruits now and I don’t have to beat them to get into the playoffs (since I couldn’t beat them before and the few times we had great seasons, we were cheating).”
Might be time to resurrect the idea of a G5 playoff:
