So? What does humility have to do with doing his job? Who is a humble college basketball coach? On top of that, who is a successful basketball coach that is humble?
Huggins= great coach
Huggins= classless
Huggins= a$$hole
Huggiins=arrogant piece of garbage
If #1 outweighs the the other 3, he’s your guy. He forgot who signed the checks in Cincy and got his a$$ ran out of town. Not saying they made the right call for the program, but it was certainly justified.
Sometimes, people have enuff balls to say, I don’t care if he wins, the jerk is gone- f it. That time it was a chick with balls that snuffed him- beautiful.
I hear ya. I didn’t see WVU when they were healthy, but I was real high on Duke all year. Not really knocking WVU, just thought Duke was too crazy for em.
Oddly, I think many people had been snakebitten by Duke and didn’t pick them to go deep because of recent history. They were very good all year, but they rarely were great. Even in the title game, they won by being very good, not great. But I am positive they are satisfied with the results.
I think the tournament was one of the worst seeded tournaments in NCAA history. It was great for upsets, but Butler as a 5 seed was insulting and was only the tip of the iceberg. Bulter and Temple should have been seeded 2/3 based on the season. UNI, Cornell, Richmond, and Xavier were also seeded incorrectly.

What I like about Huggins is that he is always himself. Lots of coaches have their public faces and play the publicity game. They are all arrogant, classless pricks.

It’s about having some integrity, some character, and not acting like you think you’re better than sliced bread.
Here’s a few that came to mind without looking at a list:
Brad Stevens, Skip Prosser (RIP), Tom Izzo, Mark Few, Tony Bennett, Paul Hewitt, Roy Williams, Herb Sendek, Mark Fox, Brice Drew, Jim Boeheim, and Bobby Lutz. Those are the ones that I have seen in action that I would want to play for or wouldn’t mind my kid playing for.
Here are the opposites:
John Calipari, Dave Bliss, Jim Harrick, Bobby Knight, Bob Huggins, Frank Martin, Quinn Snyder, and Kelvin Sampson.
Can you see the difference in the two lists? Both lists have lots of wins, but there is a right way and wrong way to do it.
I’ll give you that. He’s a full-time ass.

Yea, I think people underrated Duke. I couldn’t believe there was even any question about them being a #1 seed. And this was the first year in a LONG time I didn’t make a bracket and so I didn’t get to cash in on my faith in Duke, but I doubt I would have picked them to win it all. My moral compass simply won’t let me pick Duke or UNC to win it all.
Not related to you and X’s debate, but I don’t think WVU stood a chance against Duke either way. Also, I really think WVU got lucky hitting all those 3 balls against Kentucky. If WV hadn’t hit those 3s…and if Kentucky had shot better. Yes some of UK shooting can be attributed to WVs defense. But I also think they just had a really bad shooting night. 34% fg, 4-32 on 3s(13%!) and 16-29 on fts.

Are you joking me?
Do you know these coaches personally? What makes Frank Martin such a bad guy to be grouped with the likes of Dave Bliss?
And again you missed my point. You can’t comprehend someone in the top 0.5% of a field, because you will never meet one and you are not one. Reality bites.

Do you really need to meet Dave Bliss, Bobby Knight, or Jim Harrick to know how they are as people? Do you really need to meet Frank Martin to know who he is? If you do, then you are much shallower than I gave you credit for.
How do you know I’m not someone in the top 0.5% of my field? Do you know me personally? Do you know what I do for a living? Reality is very good, thank you very much.

Also, throw in the fact that Duke was the lowest 1 seed, yet got the easiest bracket. I know Coach K and the players have nothing to do with that. And I give him props for getting players to buy into a system. He is the best at that. But after seeing the brackets I honestly felt a Final 4 was a lock for them this year. Baylor somewhat made up for an otherwise easy bracket. I believe Baylor was better than people expected.
I agree Duke’s recent history did make people jaded. I’d also throw in the fact that the ACC was relatively weak this season and the fact they got drilled by Georgetown and NCSU. Not many times you see the NatChamp get drilled like that during the regular season.

I know you are not in the top 0.5% of anything, other than maybe being holier than thou. If you were in the top 0.5% you wouldn’t have the time to post on here all day.
I mean you are judging a guy like Frank Martin’s character (or these other guys) on how he coaches a basketball team. That is the epitome of shallow.

And for the record, I am in the top .05% of something. I can drink beer better than almost anyone walking, and there are plenty of people that will vouch for that.
Haha
I’m fine with my reality too, however I don’t spend my time judging everyone, especially when I was never in their shoes.

I said you were in the top 0.5% of holier than thou because you have demonstrated on a number of occasions to act that way. That is not an assumption.
Again, I’ll use Frank Martin as an example. What makes him in the same group as Dave Bliss?
e
I think Huggins is a really good coach, but has he really ever won anything? I know he hasn’t had UNC/Duke/UK/KU talent, although his talent isn’t horrible either, but he’s been to 1 final four and largely underacheived with the Cincy teams when he got to the tourney. He also, for years beat up on an underwhelming CUSA (b/c remember it wasn’t all rainbows and gumdrops like it was the last few years).
I could see excusing him if he had championships to his name, or hell multiple opportunities at them, but he hasn’t. I don’t even see him on the same level as Aww Shucks during his tenure at KU.
Bob Huggins has turned three different schools into national powers. You may not remember how dominant Cincy was when he was there because it is easy to be incubated by the ACC cocoon, but they should have won a title before Martin’s leg snapped. They were head and shoulders above every other team that year. WVU was very close to winning a title this year and fell victim to the injury bug.
I’m well aware, and I’m not incubated by an ACC cocoon, I know that may be your attempt to belittle my argument, but the guy hasn’t won anything big. I still said he’s a really good coach, but I wouldn’t call him great. They were good, and if I remember they beat Duke that year early on, so I’m well aware. But woulda, shoulda, coulda doesn’t win championships. Huggins would be the first to tell you that. I never said he hasn’t gotten close, but this is only his 2nd trip ever and it took him 18 years to get back. Again, really good, but not great.
Not related to you and X’s debate, but I don’t think WVU stood a chance against Duke either way. Also, I really think WVU got lucky hitting all those 3 balls against Kentucky. If they played UK again 3 times, I think UK would win all 3. (But they did beat UK when it counted, still can’t take it away from them.)
WVU was down a starter and lost a second one in the Duke game. Their back-up PG was a shadow of himself after he was racked with injuries. Not saying that WVU would have beaten Duke if both guys stayed healthy, but to say they didn’t stand a chance is crazy to me.
That back up PG was the Region MOP, sorry if I don’t buy your argument. And Truck was a marginal PG at best.
