I’ve got a question/Charlotte Observer

Didn’t they sponsor the 3 ptr meter at one time?

Back in my day the o had several boxes around campus where each morning you could buy the latest issue for 10 cents. These papers also had coverage of all the east coast games played the night before.

What you consider as attacks are basically people saying the same thing you just said. :joy:

Yes, but everyone on here keeps repeating the same sentiment that the Observer hasn’t covered the school and that they should be ashamed. Getting somewhat visceral.

I’m just reiterating that without the O, we have no alternatives.

I do miss my shirt that said Niners get it every morning and on the back it said Charlotte Observer. I got it when I order the paper my freshman year in Holshouser

I had the same shirt and I believe it said, “I get it every morning before the sun rises.”
:joy: :sun_with_face:

I was a subscriber for years, but had to start getting my info other places. So many other options to choose from as the years went by.

For us to do more, I know what needs to happen. I was simply sharing on here. I’m not begging for clicks. I just think Charlotte 49ers should be a rating winner of us and it is not now. Trying to bring the sides together. I get y’all are angry, but I’ve heard the story and understand it completely.

Just asking if we can, let’s move on. I can’t go back to 2007 or 2015 or 2020 and change something written on here not written in the paper.

Poole had several roles over his time. NASCAR was one, but he was always a big hoop head.

TheHarryMan, thanks for the suggestions. Probably not best idea to chase non-revenue sports until we get the revenue sports to produce (that generally have a much wider audience). Bad ratings hurt my efforts.

Again, I don’t view us as an entity that should “promote” something. I get that’s how you might look at it, but it just bothers me a little.

Anyway, we’ll have coverage before and after the game.

Hope y’all read and share.

'Preciate it

I think what the media purposefully decides to publish in general can be based on steering attitudes or pushing agendas. I absolutely think there are so many tar heel fans in the state because the media most non college grads consume gave them lots of coverage. Games on broadcast TV and a reliable article in the N&O, Charlotte Observer after games.

Promote = Create excitement and interest amongst potential readers = More clicks and subscriptions = $$$. It’s a win win in the long term. The interest and excitement must be a development of the efforts of the O. Hey! Ya’ll come on back won’t work, imho.

Agreed, but I also think it’s simpler than that.

Man y’all funny

It’s absolutely true, and it surpsrises me anyone could think otherwise. Before the Panthers came along, most people in NC were either Cowboys or Redskins fans. That was all because thier games were the ones most televised in the market. The Braves still have big fanbases all around the country, mostly because of their TBS deal.

I grew up mostly in Charlotte. I was a Steelers’ fan. Stayed that way until I took my future wife on our first date to watch a team called the Panthers play in Clemson.

Hope you’ve noticed a pretty serious uptick in coverage since I started coming over here. We’re doing our part. Still don’t like “promotion,” but I get it.

In any event, the content is there.
