Interesting, looking at the footage against NC State you can see that they used him at the 2 as well as at point. With some success too, so that may give us more options than I had initially figured with his arrival.
We did that a lot with Demon and Diego, then Demon and Plavich. I think that’s why Briscoe’s people have mentioned Demon. Briscoe is Demon but not as strong at this point.
From that video - His stroke looks weird, but he sets his feet every time. Explosive first step, nice crossover, not an ace at passing out of the double team (lets it collapse completely on him), but passes out of it. Finishes quickly and smoothly on drives.
Did not see any mid range game, but this kid looks really good - a fast, sleek shooter. State had some really long athletes on him (was that Gavin Grant? 6’7?), and it didn’t matter.
He looks tough. Sets his feet and gets his shot off quickly (a must for someone his size). Not afraid to drive to the hole against bigger players. Looks more like a SG than a PG at this stage of his career, but I’m excited to have him especially with a year to work on his game and learn the system.

Does not elevate but was always open when he shot. Kind of has a jitterbug style to him if you will. Michael Adams type player but fortunately a little taller. There are some mid-range shots early on. A floater and some others just inside the 3. Not textbook but they went in. Should be even better with the ball after a year sitting out but working on his game.

Thought I saw a few pull-up jumpers in the mid-range area. His shot is strange, but seems effective, might help avoid the blocks with that weird form (wonder if that gets scouted though). On the other hand, the whole second half of the video was against Duquesne, who had a great offense but just an awful defense last year. I’d take productivity against them with a grain of salt. NCstate, not sure, had some tall guys but did not seem to be bringing a ton of intensity. I’ll look forward to what he can do in a niner uniform, as players can be very different (good or bad) with teammates of higher talent around.
He will be one of many options for us VS the only option for Central. I like that he will take it in when it opens up, he made State look silly at times. Imagine a year of working against Harris in the gym, he’ll be a much improved player…welcome to Charlotte!!
Welcome Deuce. I am sure Duquesne is elated we signed you and they get to see you for 3 full years!
I do not care what his shot looks like as long as he believes it is going in.
Also what jumped out at me is Duquesne’s gym (I try to forget) is another reason it is hard for us to sign kids. The discrepenacy between the facilities and commitment in this conference is hard to grasp.

The Palumbo Center isn’t as bad as you are making it out to be, and it looks pretty good on TV. The gripe needs to be directed at La Salle and Fordham, not Duquesne.
If you look at it, they had more to gripe about as far as losing players before last season (Shawn James, Kojo Mensah, Robert Mitchell, Achara, plus many more) yet they were playing in the A10 championship game. I wouldn’t question the Dukes’ commitment.
I don’t think we can question their commitment when they had a much better season than we did last year, and Everhart has continually brought in good players into that program.

I’m sorry but this kind of crap just grates on my nerves! Why do SO MANY of our fans have to constantly make statements like this. Last year’s team was NOT indicative of our program over the last 20+ years. So what if Duquesne MAY have been a better team than us last season. How many times could you say that out of the last 20? I’ll help you—probably just the one. …I guess if we happen to be better than someone like Kentucky or Arizona this year, then their fans can’t say crap to us then, huh?

sorry for continuing the thread hijack.
I agree with you, but they also beat us in the 1994 NIT opener. :weep:

We are 5-2 all time against them, but to me that is not the most important factor. The question is who’s “program” has been more highly thought of over the last 20+ years, Duquesne or Charlotte? No contest. Who has been to more NCAA tourneys, been ranked more, beaten more top 25 teams, etc…again, no contest…Sorry, it irks me when people go SOOOO overboard based on a bad season, or even 3-4 sub-par seasons. You still must look further back to get a true measure of a program. We are still a solid program and one of the “best” in the A10.
He was very impressive. He is the type of player that fits perfectly into Lutz system. He can really shoot the rock. Reminded me of Demon Brown.
Same here. Don’t know if he’ll be the same shooter but looked close to Demon in that video and appeared to have better handles. Also agree that his shot looked a little strange but he has some serious range and he gets it off quick. Looks to be an amazing player, I can’t wait to get to see him in green. Welcome aboard Deuce!!
