I think when there is talent in your hometown, and other suitors are taking notice, you have to grab him. Maybe he pans out, maybe he is just a good 6’5" shooting guard that helps you in practice to pepare your SG for height of defenders. Maybe he helps you get into the Victory Christian program.
I don’t know what to expect, but when tournament time came around, he came up big.
I agree. Especially after the whole Stephan Curry thing…
“Before that weekend,” Barnett said, “we were getting stuff together to write letters to colleges about academic scholarships. I figured that was my ticket.”
Could he (or someone else) qualify for an academic scholarship and join the team as a walk on, leaving an athletic scholarship open?
Hope Christian game should be good. They are loaded with talent. Kenny Gabriel (a guy were are recruiting), Laron Dendy (one of the best players in the state, Clemson), JT Thompson (who we recruited, VA Tech), and a couple other kids.

Looks like he might be able to contribute to the team in more ways than just playing ball.
The article also said he chose us over Wake, College of Charleston, Richmond, and Furman. It’s good to finally beat Wake out for a recruit.
Wake doesn’t have any scholarships available for next year so he was a backup plan for Wake in case there’s a transfer. I don’t blame the kid for not waiting on that. He’ll be better off at UNCC.
yeah I read that on your board. We still beat out some other notable schools in Kansas and Miami, although I don’t know how hard either of those were recruiting him.

Barnett said he can’t wait to get to Charlotte, and he promises 49ers fans they are getting someone who wants to work hard.

Anyone going? 6:30 today and real close by

Javarris Barnett and Victory Christian play Southlake Christian Academy today at 6:30 p.m. in the first round of the Southern Piedmont Athletic Association tournament at Southlake Christian School, 13901 Hager’s Ferry Road, Huntersville.

That is about three miles from my office. I have a meeting from 4-6 but I should get there at least mid way through the 1st half. I’ll be sporting the CHARLOTTE shirt.
can anyone that is going record the game and maybe make a highlight of his game tonight? I know it’s not really a small favor, but if anyone could do it, that’d be great.

Word. Ill be going to Lutz Live then to RJ Gators to get hammered off dollar pints…
“It’s God’s timing, I guess,” Barnett said. "I didn’t know things would happen like they did, but me and my dad confessed in prayer that I would get a full ride and be one of the top players in the nation. We’d pray that every morning. I just knew it would come to pass."
Faith does wonders! I like this kid a lot and know that his confidence is going to lead him pretty far on the floors of Halton.
