Kickoff Meeting
I mentioned this in another thread and the shoutbox.

Why not guarantee FSL owners a discount on season tickets for a predermined period of time (perhaps forevder)? That gives potential buyers a little more incentive to buy a seat they can use 5 years from now.
If one doesn’t buy a FSL one will not be able to buy football tickets AT ALL…thats the incentive to buying FSL’s…people that pass on FSL’s will not be going to Niner football games…pretty straight forward to me.
Still don’t understand why the administration wouldn’t offer an incentive like season tickets for all the other sports when you purchase FSL’s. At least you would have potentially more people attending the other sports like soccer and baseball, and would have a potential big boost for b-ball. We just need people on our campus attending our events and getting engaged in the university.
At the very least it would be an incentive for the purchasers.
I agree and made this recommendation, hoping it would take flight for this campaign…I will continue to push for it, though I fear it’s too late.

the incentive for buying an FSL is helping build a program, period, end of story, that is all.

Uh-

Not having general admission tix would be the worst idea of the whole football/FSL concept. We want to gain fans not deny them.
That would be a disservice to the city of Charlotte, like becoming a hermit university.

How are current and future students going to attend our games once they graduate?
The student role in this is pretty much finished, they already campaigned/rallied/voted. Now its in the community and alumni hands. Students aren’t buying FSLs, so why do we need them around?
Students are a huge resource to help get out in the community. You can use your imagination to see how using students and student groups to get the word out, join the sales force, use PR/Marketing major groups could be a huge asset.

Selling out the house every week with high interest for tickets to games isn’t necessarily a bad problem to have. At least it’s better than lots of empty seats and disinterest.
There are quite a few ā€œnamesā€ that aren’t on that list. I won’t be the one to call anyone out, but rather disappointing to see who has not purchased their FSLs yet.
Correct. Rather than call out the administration, foundation and athletic department, call out (or call up) the supposed 1000’s of alumni that have whined about a program for the last 30 years and haven’t stepped up to the plate. 1800 FSL’s sold, meaning there were likely 900 transactions or less if you figure each person bought 2 FSL’s on average…that’s patheitic IMO given the alumni base at our University.

It took me about 10 minutes yesterday to list out 50 names of folks I attended school with. I accumulated another 21 names of alumni I work with. If I can’t sell 20 FSL’s in that network alone I’ll be surprised. I encourage all of you to do the same. Heck encourage people to split the seats with another couple for the time being to get this thing done!!

I WANT FOOTBALL AND WILL DO WHATEVER I CAN TO HELP REACH 5,000 FSL’S!!
the incentive for buying an FSL is helping build a program, period, end of story, that is all.
Yep, but that alone won’t be enough for many to commit and there are yet others who simply can’t afford the price of the amount that they would need to match their number of tickets.

I was going to start a thread about this but I will say it now. I won’t call names but some Niners are complaining about a lack of FSL sales when they themselves do not contribute to the 49er Club or purchase basketball tickets. I know of at least one long time athletic contributor that is now pissed because he was given grief by a non 49er Club member about not buying a FSL. This should not be happening.

Not me.

I hate to be this harsh but the truth hurts. If you pass on FSL’s, for whatever reason… then you are part of a group that killed a once in a lifetime opportunity to make OUR good University into a GREAT University. I know I’m blessed more than most but honestly… it’s $25 a month! How much do you spend on cable a month or eating out or on beers?? If we fail, our reputation as a University will spirial down, I guarantee it!

pretty darn accurate.
Then how are we suppose to create future interest in our program? How are current and future students going to attend our games once they graduate?
Not saying I agree with the concept, just repeating what I’ve heard. I will assume there will be goal line and endzone seats available to those that wish to buy single game tickets…just don’t expect to sit anywhere between the 20’s. There must be some rewward for the folks that are stepping up and investing in the future of 49er football and the University in general. MOST programs sell seat licenses…the difference is you can’t sniff a seat license at a school like NCSU for less than $5,000-10,000.
Then how are we suppose to create future interest in our program? How are current and future students going to attend our games once they graduate?
You know, I never thought about that.

Phase II… expansion of the stadium when the ticket have become the ticket to have in Charlotte.
Then how are we suppose to create future interest in our program? How are current and future students going to attend our games once they graduate?
I imagine that there will always be some FSLs available as people choose to turn in their rights. I also fully expect to have a certain number of limited gameday tickets available. Fact of the matter is though that new students not being able to get tickets will make us no different than many other schools with huge waiting lists. As the program grows and the need is there we can expand and add capacity - but to make this happen right now we can’t concern ourselves too much with how to get future people in the doors. We just need to be sure we can get current people in.

Also not being able to get in does create interest in a program. People are more interested in something that has limited access than something that anyone can get into. Just look at the Hornets early yrs vs. the Bobcats. The harder it is to get a ticket the more people want to go.

My will states that when I die, my FSLs will transferred to whomever bids the most for them. Of course, non-family members are responsible for the $300 transfer fee.

Proceeds will be used to build a memorial brothel in my name.

Johnny Harris’ speech is just as good the second time around!
QFT

ā€œA football team and an on-campus stadium is absolutely the right thing to be done right now,ā€ Harris implored. ā€œI live in Charlotte. It’s my university. I went to Chapel Hill, but Charlotte is my university. We can not fail. Our community is looking at us and what we can accomplish.ā€

Yes, since the city has always been sooo anxious to ā€œhelpā€ the university……I kid, sort of…
