Kickoff Meeting

Then how are we suppose to create future interest in our program? How are current and future students going to attend our games once they graduate?

We know (realistically) there will be SOME tickets available to the gen. public, but the hope is that they will be highly sought after and eventually lead to a need for stadium expansion.

I hate to be this harsh but the truth hurts. If you pass on FSL's, for whatever reason... then you are part of a group that killed a once in a lifetime opportunity to make OUR good University into a GREAT University. I know I'm blessed more than most but honestly... it's $25 a month! How much do you spend on cable a month or eating out or on beers?? If we fail, our reputation as a University will spirial down, I guarantee it!

BINGO!

Then how are we suppose to create future interest in our program? How are current and future students going to attend our games once they graduate?

Most alumni of major universities have difficulty getting season tickets following graduation. There just simply isn’t enough room when the majority of the stadium is filled with people renewing season tickets/big time donors/students.

We’re not buying tickets for a football team, WE’RE BUILDING A PROGRAM.

I would have doubled the price of season tickets for the first season. I posted a similar thing above, but 20,000 season tickets at $300 each is $6,000,000 in revenue. That's more money than we will raise in FSL donations if we sell 5000 FSL's, and people would have a ticket in hand and not just an empty seat and feeling like they got ripped off. You would already have 20,000 fans, and probably half of them would donate some addtional funds to help the cause (and get credit for a tax deduction). If you want to tier the seating, you could make 6000 seats cost $500, 4000 at $400, and the remaining 10,000 seats to be sold would be $300 for that first season. That way you would be tiering the seats more fairly than the FSL plan and raising additional income up to $7.6 million prior to kickoff. I'm throwing out round numbers for the ticket prices based on what college football season tickets usually cost. You're looking at a 25,000-30,000 seat stadium, but you already have the tickets sold (including the students). Now you can go talk to some corporations and big donors about getting their names involved because you can show that you have a large fan base to advertise to. Right now we have 1800 seats sold and look like the most apathetic fan base on earth.

If you are saying to do this instead of the FSLs the problem is you can’t build facilities, hire coaches, or fund scholarships until you raise some money. Waiting until the first season to begin won’t work. The 49er Club raises about $1.5 million/year now and it takes almost all of it to support our current programs. If we brought in $3 million/yr maybe we would have the extra cash to start building but we don’t. We can sell cookies or we can sell FSLs, but somehow we have to get additional cash to get this going. Keep in mind that in addition to football we have to add two new women’s sports. That puts additional stress on our already tight athletic budget.

There is some occasional grumbling about the $250/yr 49er Club donation that is required to maintain your same seats. So far FSL sales have gone disproportionally towards people that do not make a contribution to the Niners. That is both good and bad, but this plan incents them to join the club. If anyone had asked me–and they didn’t–I would have said that it was crazy to let someone give $250/yr and buy an FSL at the beginning and get to keep that prime seat forever. I think it should go to the new fan that strokes a $5000 check each year and buys an FSL. But the program is what it is, and locking in your seat now appears to be an incredible opportunity. While I don’t agree with it, I will take advantage of it.

Dental surgery, an engagement ring, and lower wages have priced me out of the 3 FSL’s I originally pledged. However, I love the Charlotte 49ers, and refuse to be the reason the dream doesn’t come true. Tomorrow, I am calling the ticket office and purchasing 2 FSL’s. I will just have to budget tighter and make minimum payments on my debts.

Questions…

What would my monthly payment be? Roughly $55?

Would this price include tickets? I’m guessing no.

Will you all praise my sacrifice and resolve?

Hey Pork Chop, you doomas. Just go online. All your questions will be answered. I do praise you, for your selflessness though.

My quote in your signature forever applies, PC.

That answer it?

Engaged. What did you do that for? LOL.
There will always be chicks. There won’t always be a BOT that tries to get Football.

I think your sacrifice and resolve deserves a free upgrade to the white gold FSLs

I ain’t engaged yet SCK. Oh, you guys. blush

If this hadn’t been calling folks up but actually getting them together and talking with them in person I would have jumped at the chance to do that. With two jobs and school somehow its just easier for me to meet people in person then to find the time to call them, seeing how I would be expected at work during prime calling hours. I know that I can sell someone in person and I’m trying to arrange a lunch for Niner alums at my work to do just that.

However, I would have liked to get a look at that list so that I see exactly who has NOT bought yet!

Question? Was someone with the initials CHP not on this list?

CHP has purchased.
CHP has purchased.
My…heart…can’t…breathe…shock…

So who is it that has surprised everyone? This is a message board and must be used to call folks out!!!

more important than CHP is the people on the football committee (Minter, Rucker, Johnny Harris, Gene Johnson, et. al.). These are people who claim they want to see football at Charlotte. They better already be on the list.

Hey Pork Chop… your grand kids will thank you one day for your vision and sacrifice! And think of all the fun we’ll have on Saturdays starting Fall 2013!

Perhaps they’re waiting for the Luxury Box details to come out?

I thought since CHP was Chancellor, he wouldn’t buy because he’d expect free admission.

If he didn’t buy we’d be stringing him up right now. Smart move on his part. CYA!

PM me. I’ll make it easy for you to purchase them, and I’ll even buy you a beer in the process! That sounds like a winning deal to me!
