Lost (May Contain Spoilers!!)

The flashbacks were worth a crap last night…good for Lost…

One thing that kinda chaps my hide is the fact we get 2 episodes…then 3 weeks off…2 episodes…then 1 week off.

Its just annoying…does it seem to anyone else that they take more time off than any other show?

the symbols from the counter looked like egyptian hieroglyphs… at least 2 of them appear on this website I found from a google search: the first symbol is pronounced “S” and the bird is pronounced “Ah”. but I can’t make anything else out from it.

.thats what I like about what Fox has been doing with Prison Break and 24, being continuous. with dramas that makes a difference, with a show like Friends you can take time off since their isn’t a continuing plot.

does anyone know who the creators and screenwriters are, and their backgrounds more importantly. there are obvious theological messages in Lost, figure out their worldview they are trying to push through this show and you’ll likely see where its going. the writers are obviously trying to push some message with the show, I haven’t seen enough of the episodes or paid attention enough but one thing they are definitely trying to do is either prove/disprove predestination or atleast discuss it. I would say the latter since its hollywood but then again they did recite all of pslam 23.

The ‘Other’ said his name was Henry Gale. Henry Gale was Dorothys uncle in The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy got back from OZ in a hot air balloon.

Interesting correlation there. Hmmmmm…

Actually the Wizard got to and left Oz by hot air balloon. Dorothy click her heels and said “there’s no place like home”.

It is seems to be a consensus that the Symbols mean “To Make Healthy”.

This was interesting:
The Other was definitely not a wealthy balloonist. He was in an earlier Hurley episode. Look to the scene in Hurley’s flashback where Hurley goes back to the mental hospital to look for Leonard. When he is having a hard time explaining to the receptionist who he is looking for, there is a maintenance worker in the background on top of a tall ladder trying to change a light bulb. The worker is balanced precariously (sp?) on the ladder and is close to falling and Hurley keeps looking over him and getting distracted from his conversation with the receptionist. Hurley finally looks over at the worker and says something like “Dude, don’t do that.” The worker looks at him and might have climbed down the ladder. The doctor that Hurley knew then walks up and lets Hurley into the ward to find Leonard.
(Not sure if it is in fact true, but interesting none the less)

And this:
I know that one theory that’s been kicked around revolves around Stanley Milgram’s work with the…wait for it…button-pushers. To what lengths will people go, even to the point of hurting other people, when under authority? Sayid’s actions in this episode align pretty well. But this episode suddenly sent bells off for me when Kate’s dad looked at her photo while in the convoy with Sayid. We’ve seen lots of examples of how the passengers are connected, directly and indirectly. I suspect we’ll keep seeing that.

Although Milgram is best known for his authoritarian experiment, he is also the author of the theory known as the Small World Phenomenon. We know its pop culture version as Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. But Milgrams SWP was built on a mathematical algorithm and postulated that every person in a defined population could be connected within six steps. And his populations were large: adults in the United States, or all mathematicians, for example.

More on the Oz angle - In the Oz stories, of which there were many, Dorothy goes back and forth between Oz and Kansas for a while, but eventually she uproots Uncle Henry and Auntie Em and moves them (via balloon) to the Emerald City permanently.

i saw a translation on one of the lost message boards that interpreted the symbols as

" swd3 caus die"

a shameless bump of the Lost thread in prep of the new episode in 2 days. The “newguy/other” is definately “an other” IMO. I wasn’t quite sure where sahid was going with some of the ?'s but when he started down the line of where’s the grave, and how deep, etc… and the guy had no answers, only to deflect back on sahid… definately an other. kill the bastard. Of course then Jack comes in and phucks it all up. WTG jack, what a f’in moron. sahid and ecko should get together and just be badasses. I like both their characters alot. The whole countdown thing was pretty sweet too with the images/glyphs. Good episode. Most repeats have some tie-in to the current story line… so what was so important to reemphasize about the pilot episode last week? hmmmmmmmm. lookin forward to wednesday (altho i won’t actually watch it till thurs).

Arrrggg, my VCR only recorded half of Lost!!! I think it must have gotten “infected.” Thank goodness for my “other” friends who have recorded it. It looked like a good one.

It sucked, and next week’s episode looks even worse. “Sawyer, I need a pregnancy test.” Give me a break. It’s now officially a soap opera.
Nothing cool or interesting has happened since they opened up the hatch.

I’m off the Lost bandwagon.

I though last night’s episode was pretty good.

I thought it was very good as well. To find out Ethan is part of the darma project. To find the other hatch. To see Russo’s daughter help Claire escape. Russo saving Claire. To find the costumes in the lockers(are the others just acting somehow??). Ecko’s talk with Henry.
Lots of good nuggets in this episode and is moved very quickly as opposed to some of the last couple episodes.

Sideshow how can you be off the Lost wagon after this episode? We got more answers in this one episode than all of the other episodes combined. I would think it would be an episode like this that would bring you back into the fold.

Kicked ass.

Things I noticed.

Loved the Alex reveal.

The dude Ethan was talking to was the same dude who threatened Jack (w/ Sawyer and Locke).

The “Catch a Falling Star” was from when she was putting the baby up for adoption. She asked the future adoptive parents to sing that to him every now and then.

The airplane mobile was in a dream BEFORE Claire was kidnapped (when she was sleepwalking).

I have one question.

When Danielle told Claire “that you will do what you have to do if Aaron gets the sickness”, did any of y’all take this as she killed Alex as an infant. If so, Alex is dead and this is not her daughter.

I thought of it more that, “if I find out the baby is sick, and you don’t kill him yourself, I’m going to come and do it”. kinda a semi-threat. I think the girl who helped claire is Alex. I can see a revisit with that character sometime this season, maybe a reunion during the finale?

The dood in the hatch (mr gale) is definately an other… ecko is still a badass. Locke is gonna break soon. sahid should just comeback and get info from the captive.

will kate give the gun back to sawyer?

will claire/kate tell everyone else about the 3rd hatch? given that the new hatch had stuff in the lockers (the beard/glue)… would you guess its still in use by the others/dharma (one in the same imo). If so, I fully expect the storyline to hit ludicris speed as the group starts to piece things together.

does anyone else think the clinical psychologist is hot too? hurley is a badass if they get together.

my 2 questions: where is michael, and where is the original hatch “brother” guy? I think both need an appearance before the season is out.

What the heck was that about?

The show has lost its mystique for me. It was cool when we saw the monster knocking down trees and wondered what it was. When a polar bear mysteriously appeared. At the discovery of the hatch, and the excitement of what might be inside.

Now most of the logic behind all of that is coming together and is understandable, and it’s just another show. The others are actors wearing wigs and glued beards? Boring. Another hatch? Been there, done that. And oh, Sun might be pregnant. I guess if she has it, then that baby will be taken by the others too.

Like I said, it’s too much like a soap opera now.

I’ve never been a big fan of TV: Lost is the only drama I’ve watched since Star Trek: The Next Generation (the re-runs on Spike TV kick ass, BTW). Of course I love movies. At first Lost felt like a movie, like an Alfred Hitch**** or David Lynch film. Now it feels like a TV show, and I’ve lost interest.

So Lost now feels like a TV show, even though it actually is a TV show? That just doesn’t make sense. I would rather watch reruns of Lost than the crap that Hollywood is putting out, and I’ve always thought Star Trek was cheesy looking.

Anyway, I finally was able to watch all of Wednesday’s episode and I thought it was great. As someone mentioned about the French woman telling Claire she may have to do something with her child, hinting to killing Aaron, maybe the French woman had to turn her child over to the others because she knew they were the only ones who were able to cure her. Just a thought.

When Kate found the beard and glue, it got me to thinking. Seeing Zeke dressed up and clean shaven made me think that they are continuing to receive supplies from the outside world. For one their clothes looked clean and if you’ve been on that island for several years your clothes will eventually wear out. And I believe the washing machines were new in Locke’s hatch.

Overall my complaint this season is that they are showing too many reruns. I would rather see the season either start later or end sooner with fewer reruns.

The point I was trying to make was that at first Lost felt like a good suspense film. Now it feels like a soap opera. I’m no fan of TV, and up until now Lost didn’t feel like a TV show. At least for me.

Obviously I’m in the minority on that opinion, and that’s ok. I’ll just go back to watching movies and star trek re-runs.
