Anthony Grant moves to Alabama. Hard to believe he was getting $700,000 plus incentives at VCU.

Have you been to Memphis?

I wonder what impact this will have on David Chadwick.

Wow, really? Tony Bennett? He’s a good coach. I’m not sure the Virginia job is better than the Wash St job…maybe he just wanted to get to the east coast and into the acc?

I bet Chadwick asks for his release and follows him to UVA. He was only going to Wa St for the coach anyways, and now that coach is much closer to home.

(from the Memphis board) :lmao:
The thing that makes Cal so UNIQUE is not only is he a good coach and recruiter, but he is a great SALESMAN for our University. Tim Floyd is a great coach, but he would NEVER generate the amount of national exposure that Cal does. Same with Mike Anderson.

Cal’s media savvy is a HUGE asset for us that we DESPERATELY need. Floyd/Anderson/Few do NOT possess that savvy and as a result, we desperately need to retain Cal for those purposes.

Plus, there’s no way Few comes here
Isn’t Tony Bennett a singer? LOL.

The Herb Sendek style comes back to the ACC. The money had to be too good to pass up. His style of play might be successful every few years (if they let him coach that long), but it won’t be as successful as it was in the Pac10. I don’t think he’ll get the same level recruits at Virginia that would keep getting had he stayed at Washington State. Invest wisely, Mr. Bennett.

100% accurate. It’s like trying to run Daytona with a Bristol set up. You can get around the track but good luck keeping up

For a reported 8 year $35million contract?

Cal to UK appears to be a done deal.
Cal to UK appears to be a done deal.
this could not happen to a nicer group of fans. i feel really sorry for those memphis state fans.

If Cal does take the UK job, will be interesting to see how it affects the spring signing period, not to mention already-signed NLIs. Demarcus Cousins had already backed out on his commitment to UAB and changed it to Memphis. And John Wall appeared to be leaning toward UofM as well before the Cal to UK scenario. Then there is the whole if Cal does head to Lexington, can the Tigers lure Mike Anderson away from Mizzou! Hmmm…

I don’t think it is a bad fit. He brings defense to the ACC, something that league hasn’t seen in a long time. Remember when Ben Howland went from Pitt to UCLA, the Pac-10 was all run and gun, now it is more of a half court league. It could be the change of the guard to compete with UNC & Duke, because those two schools are going to beat you with offense and talent.

What a bunch of moronic twits those fans are? I went to view their little message board, memphistigers.org.

You can’t even VIEW their site without an ID and password. So typical of a Memphidiot.

Dan Patrick had a Memphis reporter (I forget his name), say that all of Memphis recruits sign some sort of contract that allows them to get out of going to Memphis if Calipari leaves.

Mike Anderson to Georgia?
