If weāre cheating we suck at it
I donāt think the issue is cheating. The rumors around the soccer coach were not good.
This is not a good look. Fired during the middle of Niner Nation week with all of the events going on?
Not replaced with someone from the AD? Something major happened.
This is not overā¦

clt says pick the next AD
Iām retiring in January. Iād be willing to help outā¦..
This is what corporations and big time college sports programs do all the time. Results based business. Given seven years to improve basketball and football, both are in the dumpster.
Are we blaming the injuries on the athletic trainer?
Iād imagine he is at least partially responsible
This seemingly came out of nowhere, from my perspective anywayā¦I wonāt speculate, of course, but I will say that Gaber understands the importance of athletics for a university, so until we hear more specifics, letās just hope that she gets this hire right.
Add me to the list of people that canāt wrap their head around the timing of this decision. I donāt have a strong opinion on Mike as far as disliking or liking him. I would describe my feelings as mixed. If itās due to results I understand that, again just surprised by the timing. Itās freaking homecoming week and weāre 2 days before the game. Feels like something happenedā¦
Oh boy. Now weāll be in the national spotlight again. In the usual way. With s*** hitting the fan and weāre all in its path.
Just checked on the current Toledo AD but see that Bryan Blair was hired a couple of years after Gaber left UT. Anyway, the one-time Wazzu deputy AD does have Carolinas connections - Bennettsville native who played football at Wofford and received his JD from South Carolina, where he also served as assistant director of compliance for the Gamecocks. Also spent time as senior associate AD at Rice, as well as a stint with the NCAA. Just recently extended by UToledo.
This guy is from Charlotte. Was AD at WCU for 5 years.
$420k for 5 years.
Brutal⦠Thatās equal to our entire annual football NIL budget.
Listening to Hunter Bailey on Wes & Walker right now.
My take on the timing is that enough of our our $$ backers finally had enough and called Gaber.
If possible can we PLEASE hire a graduate of UNC Charlotte. It is time we have an invested Niner running the show.
I donāt feel the slightest bit bad for Mike considering heās getting paid well through 2030. Iād love to take a 4 year sabbatical.
Will be interesting to see if Gaber goes the traditional route or perhaps follows the lead of USF, which recently hired an alum and one-time staff member who had spent the past couple of decades as executive director of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission.
