Mike Hopkins - Syracuse asst

That is why the Final 4 contains 3 HOF coaches and no 1st team All Americans. :p
Fail. Kentucky had a first and a second team player and was a 1 seed. Syracuse had a second team, was a 1 seed. OSU first team, 1 seed. Duke second team, 1 seed. Kansas second team, 1 seed. Nova first team, 2 seed.

Personally, I think Desean Butler and Crawford got screwed in the AA process.

As far as the teams in the final 4, it’s as much as experienced players as it is HOF coaches. Except for maybe Butler. They’re doing it with a bunch of sophomores. Really impressive.

So what you’re saying is that dumb analysts think All American teams are the best, but when it comes down to playing the game then the better coached team wins? …

Last I checked you don’t get a trophy for being a 1 seed.

Seriously? Just because they’re in the final 4, doesn’t make them the 4 best teams. Injuries happen, Syracuse and Purdue. Seedings, Temple and Xavier. Match ups, Duke got a much easier bracket than the other 1 seeds, especially Kansas who was supposed to be the #1 overall. Sometimes you have a bad shooting night, Kentucky.

That’s what makes the NCAA different from the NBA. The best team doesn’t always win.

Also, no, I didn’t say the better coached team, aside from Butler maybe. I said the more experienced teams. It’s a combination of everything. Coaching, experience, players.

Normmm, your AA source a little out of whack. Kentucky actually had 2 first-teamers - Wall and Cousins. Syracuse also had a first-teamer in Johnson. BTW, who would you have traded out on the first team to put 2nd teamer Butler on it? You are correct that UR’s Anderson was the only A-10 player on the AA list as an HM.

Sorry, I was looking at the Sporting News AA, rather than AP. I thought I heard Cousins made first team too. But he didn’t on the Sp News list. I probably wouldn’t put Butler on the 1st team either. But I’d say he, Collins and Reynolds are awfully close. Butler not even in the top 5 teams for Sp News!
Sorry, I was looking at the Sporting News AA, rather than AP.
I don’t read SN much any more, especially since basically DeCourcy & Co. bailed on the A-10 this season.

Man, Syracuse fans almost seem offended that we would have the audacity to contact their assistant coach.

The public perception of our program these days is depressing. This coaching search has opened my eyes to how badly a change was needed.

We run this search in 2005, and no one is shocked that we’re contacting quality assistants or saying our HC job is a lateral move for Buzz Peterson.

It seems like so long ago we beat Syracuse in the Carrier Dome…Want to know why?

Because it was a long time ago.

They are the four best teams in the country. The winner of the national championship is the best team in the country. Results are all that matter.

He toyed with the idea of taking the St. Bonnie job a while back so I do not think we are that much of a downgrade.

Not it’s not a fail. I will type slow.

There are 4 teams left. On the roster of those 4 teams there is not a single 1st team All American and there are three HOF coaches.

BTW, The Spartans start 2 Sophs, a Freshman, WVU starts two Sophs and Butler starts three Sophs. So Duke is the only team left not starting at least two sophmores.

This URL is owned by Lynn Hopkins in Cordova, TN. Near Memphis I think. I believe “Not Yet” probably refers to her not having done anything with the site yet. I doubt this has anything to do with the coach.

Yep. We beat Syracuse the year following their winning the Nationship a few years ago.

Curry was an AA and played in the NIT.

And McKillop is a great coach.

If you believe that quality players are insignificant, we’ll have a hard time agreeing on anything. You’re really splitting hairs. First team or second team. Ok, so Sheyer and Butler were only better than 3,500 other players, instead of 3,505.

It’s very short term memory too. Do you recall the team that just won it last season. If you need help, they beat a Duke team twice last season, that basically had the same players and same HOF coach.

I never said an experienced team doesn’t play any sophomores. And I did notice you only mentioned one freshman as being a starter. MSU’s best player is a Sr, Duke’s best player is a Sr, WVU’s best player is a Sr, so only Butler has their best player not a Sr.

I’m not sure if I should even bite, but oh well. So why does the NBA play a series to determine their champion?

I wonder how the firing of Al Skinner at Boston College today will effect our chances with this guy? Think they will now make a run at him too?
