Nolan Smith has only been a head coach for 1 year. I would be happy with Miller or Keatts (assuming either would come here).

Can Nolan Smith actually coach or did he just recruit well in his lower conference due to his name? In a better conference that could catch up to him but he should also keep improving as a coach. I think a more proven coach would be a better hire like Keats or Miller or Siddle

Hiring a coach just fired for not making the NCAA tournament in five years to fix your NCAA tournament drought is not the smartest move ever.

That is so true.
In a stacked big 12. He also recently beat teams like byu, ucf and Kansas. He didn’t suck there.was 100-72. Not exactly an apples to apples comparison from big 12 to AAC. If he went to the dance consistently in big 12, he’s not going to AAC

We have done snd could do a lot worse. I’m just not sure who we are going to get with a better resume. But maybe there is someone out there. I really don’t even think that guy knows anything for sure. He just sees a lot of smoke and is trying to be first to break something.
Two years in American and 3 years in Big XII. Of course, a better American at the top than now.

New Charlotte AD Kevin White has the search to replace Aaron Fearne moving at warp speed. Wes Miller is the hot name here right now. The former Cincinnati head coach played at North Carolina (2004-07), and spent ten seasons as the head coach at UNC Greensboro (2011-21) where he went 185-135. More on this one shortly.

FWIW, the story just lists Miller, Keatts, Smith and Dildy, while getting a bit of a dig in at us:
Charlotte is not considered one of the top jobs in the league, but with a new athletic director and the correct funding, it’s a shot to rebuild a mid-major.

I would be happy with any of three coaches listed above. Miller, Keats or Smith. Hope this is not just a rumor.
I think we need someone with more head coaching experience than Nolan Smith. One season as head coach isn’t really enough to justify a hire.

Typically it is not anyone on these lists…. But hopefully we have pivoted away from going with the wacky hire that was not on anybodies list for anything
anywhere, like the Biff/Price ‘surprise’ hires.
I saw him coach UMass in Halton in 2006, or so.
He knows the arena.
