That resume summary shows just how biased the NET is. What is it about Cincy’s cupcake schedule that warrants a high NET? It’s the starting bias # in the system that cements their standing, just like the rest of the Big 12.

The deck is stacked in every way against “mid majors”.

Thus the predominance of the “power 4” in every tournament. Even teams with losing conference records get in.

Actually wanted to show the similarities vs differences of OOC, such as Niners having better SOS etc. Can’t really compare league NET numbers with #132 Utah being only B12 team outside the top 100 and the American only having 3 top 100 teams and lowest rated UTSA at #344 out of 365 D1 squads.

That’s entirely my point. That dichotomy makes no sense until you realize that the Big 12 teams start with a numerical bias just like the other power conferences.

Didn’t realize there would be a fixation on NET numbers. Intention was to show what to expect if Miller becomes coach. Virtually same team offensive output plus a mostly unattractive OOC, especially at home, with latter including a headscratching loss. The big difference is the games with P5s will almost certainly disappear at Charlotte.

Won’t get any argument from me about NET being weighted in favor of P5 schools.

Travis Ford played in Charlotte in ‘93 at the “Blowed Up Coliseum” on Tyvola Road with Kentucky in the ‘93 South/Southeast Regional.

Jamal Mashburn was one of his teammates.

I would be satisfied with several of these coaches. However, I keep thinking that “young and dynamic” is what may be the prescription for us. That’s why I keep coming back to Nolan Smith. He puts a fast and energetic offense on the court. Good recruiter in a hurry.

Not that it makes any difference, but … He grew up with Michael Beasley and remains friends with him. Fire away.

Honestly, Nolan Smith is at the top of my list. I understand that Miller would be a safer choice and we need as close to a sure thing as possible, BUT, young and dynamic, good recruiter, and quick success at his last stop, sure seems like what we’re looking for!! I’m ok with any of the mentioned candidates, a good case could be made for Keats or Miller also!

Great Kentucky team. Think Rodrick Rhodes was on the roster too. Miss that era of college bball.

The only thing that scares me about Smith is his set up and assistants looks like a high powered AAU operation. Hell maybe that should excite me in the new college BB world we are in now. Not really worked for Penny though. Rosters could get real expensive quick.

Wow, he is 37 already. Crazy.

We could do a whole new topic on how you would handle a possible Dalonte Hill return. Would be really interesting……

Enough of a reason to pass.

So a Will Healy type? LOL

Wes Miller is $3.1 million richer and can take our job if offered.

The thing that scares me about Nolan Smith is that he would be coming in with one foot already out the door. Any success here and he’s gone and we are starting over again. I know I should just be excited with success and worry about the outcome later, since it’s been so long.

The idea of Miller kind of excites me. Has success in North Carolina and a smaller school previously. It’s not like his Cincinnati tenure was an embarassment. Even with success here, I don’t see power 4 schools dying to hire Wes Miller. He could bring some sustained success here and finally get us going in the right direction.

I am just dying to make it to the tournament. I have no illusions of ever winning a championship, but just get me back to the tournament. I’m an '11 grad. My first year was Michael Beasley decomitting and winning 21 games with Leemire Goldwire out dueling Curry. I remember being devastated about Beasley and losing to Nebraska round 1 of the NIT. I would kill to even be in those positions again. They need to nail this hire.
