Keats made $3,668,000 his last year at NC State. The year he went to the final four, with incentives he made 6 million. Realistically.I donāt think we have that kind of money.

My family includes four generations of NC State grads, so I have followed Wolfpack hoops for as long as I have the Niners. That 2023-24 Pack team really should have lost to UVA in the ACCT, at which point Keatts would have been fired. That Cinderella FF run just postponed the inevitable by a year.
As far as Lee Rose goes, there was no way we could compete with Purdue moneywise etc. And we couldnāt keep his predecessor either when Clemson came calling even though Bill Foster had zero postseason appearances.

No one is beating down his door. It doesnāt matter what he used to make. We can afford $2 mil a year. Weāve been paying five fired coaches for a decade. We are penny wise and pound foolish.

He has five NCAA tournaments in 11 years across programs at 2 levels and a final four. Miller had 2 over what, 10 years and nothing beyond the first round? It isnāt even a comparison.
Edit: 2 NCAA berths in 15 years for Miller.
Heād be way better than any of our hires since Bobby. Hes also on a five year NCAA drought. Momentum is everything in College basketball. Heād be a good, but not great hire.

Context also matters. Trying to make the tournament in the 1 bid socon, or at cincy in the big 12 is harder than at state. Supposedly a great recruiter too.
8 big 12 teams made the tourney this year. So half the conference got in. Why is it harder?
Iād be pumped with Keats or Miller!! Nolan would be interesting also. Hope itās one of the three, you can make a strong case for any one of them. I go back and forth, Iām just ready to have an announcement so they can start working on keeping our players and hitting the portal!
if Mike White gets fired from georgia I might be interested in him. Iām also interested in Hester from LA Tech but not sure how you guys feel about him.

Keatts or Miller would be great hires and about as good as we could hope for. Both have flaws. If they didnāt we wouldnāt have a chance to hire them. Miller never really had a great season at Cincinnati, but never had a bad season either. Two or three of Keatts last five seasons at NC State were rough but he also made a final four during that period. Although their season wasnāt very good up until that ACC and NCAA tournament run. I think either could be really good here in the American. Smith is interesting too but I wish he had a few more years of head coaching experience to make sure this season isnāt a fluke.

Hate to say it, but his UNCG tenure is probably a more relevant body of work for us than Cincinnati.
Mine will always be the NIT and then if we make it to the NCAA I would be extra happy
