as per usual with any sport, Charlotte (still adapting to CUSA talent level) loses to ODU (who entered CUSA at the exact same time) in a sport. Drops series 1-2 at home.
Currently a game out of 8th place, tied with FIU.
3 game away series at 11th place UTSA and 3 game home series against 8th place UAB (who just got swept by Marshall).
#8 UAB has FIU/Charlotte #9 Charlotte has UTSA/UAB #10 FIU has UAB/#2 USM
In “reverse Niner fashion”, we lost this weekend’s series but gained ground in the standings. Normally we win a series and still lose ground. We started the weekend 2 games out of a tourney spot. Now we are only 1 game out and can definitely control our own destiny.
We are playing away against a bad team this weekend, so expect in “reverse Niner fashion” to lose that series.
I’m not sure what Sean Geoghegan’s status is the rest of the way but hopefully we can get him back. Always tough to lose your Friday starter. Anyone know of his injury? I thought Capps did excellent yesterday in his 1st weekend start. An opportunity was wasted this weekend but we can still play our way in. That’s the way our pitching has been this year. Pitching a complete game 1 hit shut-out one week, and 2 weeks later getting shelled for 8 runs in 1 inning. I agree with others though, that Vogler did a great job in relief.
USM, Rice, FAU, and Marshall all clinched spots in the tourney this weekend.
We are 1 game out of 7th with 6 games remaining and have the tie-breaker over FIU. I’m not sure what the tie-breaker would be with WKU since we don’t play them this year, and we have a head to head match-up with UAB remaining. Hopefully FIU can get 1 or 2 from UAB, and we can get at least 2 on the road this weekend at UTSA.

UTSA game got rained out and cancelled. Which sucks because it should have been another likely win.
If FIU score holds (up 11-4 in the 8th), Charlotte can get in with 1 win next week and some help OR clinch by winning 2 games. 2 wins gets charlotte to 13-16, eliminates UAB, with the best WKU could do as 13-17. So, somewhat thanks rain…
If we only win 1, we need either USM to sweep FIU OR FAU to win 1 game against WKU
ODU is likely but spot but not locked up. If Charlotte sweeps UAB, FIU sweeps USM, and Marshall sweeps ODU, they’ll finish 9th. And it would be hilarious.

We don’t deserve it if we can’t take care of business at home vs UAB. Time to step up and win the series to extend the season.
if feels like every weekend series we always have at least 1 cancelled game because of rain
This was the first conference game cancelled.
The game was at UTSA. Maybe they should play their baseball games in the Alamo Dome?
As I remarked earlier, if that Trump wall were up, we could keep those thunderstorms away from San Antonio.
If we get swept by UAB, we will likely miss the tourney. If we lose the series (1-2) to UAB, we would need some help to get in. If we win the series, we are definitely in.
The help we would need would be USM beating FIU, and/or FAU beating WKU.
USM (20-7) at FIU (12-5)
Rice (19-7) at La Tech (16-11)
ODU (14-13) at Marshall (19-8)
WKU (10-17) at FAU (18-8)
UAB (10-17) at Charlotte (11-15)
UTSA (6-20) at MT (5-22)

no path if we get swept. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that though.
