Can I just say, although I am not fully on the Raphael Saadiq bandwagon, that Stone Rollin’ is probably my favorite album cover of the year:
PS - I do like just don’t, and over you. The latter is probably a much less popular track.

Raphael Saadiq - Just Don’t (Live on KEXP)
Raphael Saadiq @Trianon - Over You
Raphael Saadiq has evolved just a bit of the years…
@NA
Funny story about Raphael Saadiq a couple of weeks ago. He was in the office/studios for a Sessions performance on the 13th. The crew bought him a cake for his birthday (14th) for after the performance, a beautiful music note cake. Anyhow, after the set performance, the crew walks to grab the cake. They find a chunk of the cake had been sliced and left on the table were two turtles, one in a red cage.
I’ll post videos of the performance after they go through post-production.
Umphrey’s McGee-Higgins
Also been watching them live on iclips -
I’ve been in a real metal mood lately. These guys are siiick! Toughest breakdown i’ve heard in a long time. Great circle pit at 2:06

Parkway will always be one of my favorite bands.
Give these guys a try:
Wow! They are pretty awesome! I really like the moving keys and how they actually use them for some melody rather than “dark ominous tones” in the background like most.
Jeff the Brotherhood has a new album out. They are a two piece band out of Nashville. Very garage rock stuff. Lots of psychedelic vibes and heavy riffs. Terrible name though.

Since there wasn’t anything that interested me or my son at Speedstreet this year, we went to see Sugar Glyder at Amos’ this past Friday. A very good performance and a pretty decent crowd as well.
I really like the new beastie boys cd. Make Some Noise is a great song and a great video too.
Just finished listening to My Morning Jacket’s Circuital in its entirety. Really looking forward to their Charlotte show in August!
BTW, just read that The Cure played a couple of shows this week at the Sydney Opera House. Robert Smith & Co. performed the band’s first 3 albums: Three Imaginary Boys, Seventeen Seconds and Faith. Also marked a reunion with former keyboardists Lol Tolhurst and Roger O’Donnell, though guitarist (and Smith’s brother-in-law) Porl Thompson was conspicously absent. Anyway, if these were anything like the marathon concert they put on in Charlotte back in 2008, then the Aussies were treated to quite a couple of shows!
SiriusXMU just ran a perfect driving combo… Bon Iver - Calgary, Deerhunter - Coronado, Arcade Fire - Speaking in Tongues.
Pure bliss on a stormy night.
I mighta preferred Culture War, but that was still great.
The Rosebuds - Loud Planes Fly Low
My copy is in the mail… yay!
That Bon Iver track is effing owning me right now though. Good lord that’s amazing.
More Rosebuds… go go NC bands!
Bon Iver - Calgary just doesn’t get old to me, though the official video is just a ridiculous mess of pretention. I wont even post it. I won’t post Dirty Beaches - Lord Knows Best for the same reason, even if I caught myself humming it.
This isn’t as ambitious as Rolled Together… but I like it:
The Antlers - I Don’t Want Love (album version)
It’s time to stop pretending I don’t love Washed Out - Eyes Be Closed, but I’d rather not hear the term “chillwave” again anytime soon.
Oh, and I’m still back on Deerhunter… Deerhunter - Desire Lines Why is this so much better than I remember?
IMO they sound like an early, american version Belle & Sebastian. I always ran hot & cold on B&S, so not sure if I like this. I’ll give it another listen.
Love that girl’s voice, like those falsettos starting around the 3 minute mark, how she enunciates words ending in -ing.
new Fleet Foxes, Death Cab for Cutie, City and Colour, and Bon Iver are things to check out
