Official Stadium Construction Thread 🏟

:crossed_fingers:2026. 30k seats please.

Mike hill has us positioned perfect for Tar Heel fans to outnumber us 3:1 at bank of America stadium for our “home” game.

I’ve always had the feeling Chapel Hill would never play us on campus.

I’d honestly rather play at memorial than BoA for anything that isn’t a bigger ooc opponent, ecu, or navy.

I think it only holds like 10k now, but playing off campus we are going to take a big student attendance so we may not need much more than that anyway sadly. Unless Biff is crushing it of course, then I would feel better about have a pretty full lower bowl at BoA.

I don’t think the ACC teams have EVER completely sold out BOA.

Only App can sell out BoA, just ask them.

I think the ACC has had four sell-outs for their championship game. I do know the 2017 Clemson - Miami was announced as a sellout thought.

What’s next: The next step is project authorization, which will involve the university’s board of trustees and the state’s board of governors, per Steele. If approved, they would then select designers, design the project and then begin construction.

I absolutely hate that we have to go through them for anything.

clt says no excuse for students to miss games at bofa. light rail baby!

Right-----post season and bowl games maybe, but not any regular season games that I can recall.

We can play at the Davidson or JC smith stadium for all I care.

Just so the current season ticket holders have seats and cement is being poured.

I like the idea of Memorial. We could pack it out and the sight lines are awesome.

Speaking of Davidson, construction on their new football stadium began last summer. Supposed to be ready for the 2024 season.

I’m all for whatever way gets the project done the quickest. if we can finish it quicker by playing all the games in another stadium for a season I can live with that.

Nothing is gonna show well till it’s done. Get it done ASAP.

Will memorial stadium allow for temporary seating?

This story was the headline article in their daily newsletter and we continue to get better press coverage from Axios than we have ever seen from the Observer.

Glad to see we are moving forward with the next stage as well and feel confident we have secured a good portion of funding and Hill & Co will want to move fast. I highly doubt he or Coach Poggi would want to play a full home season at BofA and would expect the priority for scheduling would be to ensure the season is minimally impacted. Football with cranes in the background would be a sight to see!
