Official Stadium Construction Thread 🏟

Is the new video board going to be bigger? I would assume that with the current frame still in place it will be the same…

Maybe it’s just a warranty replacement of the existing board.

If I recall correctly the original frame was designed so that a bigger board could be installed without it being replaced.

I’m fairly certain anything larger would require significant framing and support upgrades (most likely a relocation since we don’t want to gut the Football Center).

It can probably go bigger. They are not heavy, but they do have a huge wind load area. The primary steel is probably good for the additional wind loads; in a speculative assumption.

I’m sure they’ve gotten lighter in ten years. TVs at home are significantly lighter now than they were then and I’m sure this is the same situation.

I hope they don’t pay extra for gimmicks; like 3D, Picture in Picture and smart TV are overrated

The new board is supposed to be bigger. It will take up the old board plus the advertising area.

The baseball board needed additional structural work but that was nearly 40 years old. I doubt the new football board would need much additional structural support.

Would be nice if we had some info on the new board. Something official like.

Just seems like a silly thing to keep under wraps. Could have done some social media engagement and slow rolled the details and built some excitement.

I would have rolled in new conference, new coach, new team, new stadium video experience. I also think that if what football is doing is really transformational, we should push that. I really, really like the hastag #TheNewNiners. This isn’t your same old Lil Ole uncc football being the message.

Don’t worry. We’ll get an article on it, one day, maybe.

That 10 day coaching search was exhausting.

Meanwhile, some of the other AAC invite schools are doing media blitzes to promote the new conference affiliation.

I don’t understand it at all. It feels like Mike Hill doesn’t want us to know anything.

Know how that makes me react when they call me and ask for money?

School should do movie nights on the field after the new board is in place like camp north end does.

These things need to be community assets.

The knights took a risk by betting big on their Christmas activities and now it’s their biggest revenue generator behind baseball tickets.

Is there a strategy behind keeping this under wraps for as long as they have that we dont know about? I think its an issue they do so as well, but I am just curious.

It’s almost like he doesn’t really want us to succeed.

If there is, it’s a really stupid strategy.

I think hill has just settled in and realized Judy had it figured out. Good salary, low expectations, and ignore the peasants.

I had weekend sports radio playing in the background recently for some unknown reason… Forget what I was doing.

But the topic that came up was interesting. It was basically: fans don’t matter anymore. Not to most ADs. We are a pain in the ass that demands accountability and for a lot of the schools, not worth the effort. These schools tend to be funded by either huge TV contracts or student fees. The typical group of diehard fans at each school have completely lost any leverage or pull they once had, outside of those with the deepest of pockets. And it was coming from fans of both P5 and G5 schools. Seemed to be fairly universal.
