Official Stadium Construction Thread šŸŸ

Yep, because if there’s a program we don’t want to look anything like, it’s JMU.

The way things have been moving. I doubt any more expansion happens for a long time.

Yeah, considering that for some reason everything has to be 100% funded on this campus before any construction can be started, I think you are right and the stadium will be lopsided for quite a while.

Im actually going to disagree here - I think we get the other side built without construction equipment ever leaving campus. I think we get to this point and stay there for a long time. Mostly because the amount of money needed will be significantly less that the home side and home side construction is going to take awhile and give us plenty of time to raise money. I think this was the 24-25k range and honestly I think that will be fine.

Also I don’t want to hear anyone complain about our video board. Its as big as Maryland and way nicer than the two smaller crappy ones at chapel hill.

I’d personally rather the upper level have fewer rows but extend the entire length of the sideline, but that may cost a lot more due to additional footings and supports. I’ll be happy either way, but what makes the 30k rendering so nice IMO is that it rubs the entire length of the sideline on both sides.

I won’t be a 40 whiner though lol. Happy with any forward progress.

I can’t imagine that adding a small upper deck on the opposing side would cost that much. There’s no brick, no wiring, no plumbing, no windows, no interior finish. If we can’t raise the funds while the equipment is onsite than I’m not sure what we’re doing.

Just fill it with water, stock it with fish, and charge people to fish from the concourse.

Maybe we should move new soccer stadium to the front of the line?

This would make sense with their consistant success. Football bring the money though. Do we have a timeline for the baseball clubhouse? The ladies facility looks really nice.

This apparently will be the trend across the country. However, how does this square with the agreements drawn when money was given for naming rights in perpetuity for stadiums? Will this be part of the second phase in Charlotte’s Jerry Richardson Stadium?

I would much prefer X Stadium Presented by Sponsor.

But I am an old man that doesn’t like kids on my lawn :man_shrugging:

Hey NWA do you know if the plan to begin construction is still this summer? Would be great for them to give us a date it begins

Last I heard was August. Believe Hill said that in a podcast.

Correct, but I presume they may start staging stuff in or around the stadium over the summer.

Kelly said she would be getting an idea where all the construction equipment was going and what areas would be unavailable first couple of months. I’d imagine that equipment and prep work starts hitting this summer. I think current timeline is still August. I’ll see if I can get an update.

Constructions starts in August as opposed to like now?

Mike said like August 25th IIRC.

A very weird timetable to not take advantage of the off-season.

Yeah I don’t understand why the delay unless it just has to do with buds and the state and county permitting process.

Likely still finalizing construction drawings and permitting. State permitting review is a little slower than normal is my understanding and is required since we are taking state money. Everything in the government is slow right now, no matter what state you’re in. They haven’t been able to keep engineering staff as private sector demand and pay have grown.

As someone who works in this field…can confirm, start getting pushed back could be municipal government review delays or the engineer/architect missing submittal dates due to demand vs available staff. That August date may be the best case schedule the civil/architect gave based on the original release of the contract. Plan approval alone can take years.
