Thatās fine. Doesnāt mean Diaz canāt also be a great hire.
I like Lambert as a person but he never had a winning season. He failed, at least to me. I did love his last game though and glad he had that moment. It was a confusing hire considering the other rumored names.
Healy was a win the press conference hire, I get it and came on board quickly but that last season at Austin Peay in retrospect should have been a red flag.
Sanchez was a good hire on paper, the extensions and failure to fire him despite his failures was not. After the way he left us in the lurch that was a horrid read on the situation.
Major was a confusing hire from the get, we didnāt need to reach at that time. He did recruit well but it didnāt translate.
Price was a Hail Mary when we had Will Wade (scumbag that he is) ready to come here. I feel pretty confident in saying we would have had more success with him at the helm.
Poggi is TBD but Iām concerned.
I just want us to follow the standard hiring and extension procedures going forward.
Sorry to disagree with you so much Hootie haha. Weāve got to do better though. I think we can all agree on that.
I really donāt disagree. But Lambert was the guy that was trusted to start it and I thought it was ok.
Lambert, with no head coaching experience was a poor choice to start football program. Lambert was a nice guy but was inarticulate and had no charisma. Granted Lambert was hired by Judy Rose and Phil Dubois who at the time knew virtually nothing about football.
We should have had a winning record our first two FCS seasons and kicked off football with more enthusiasm. Getting your butt kicked by D2 UNC Pembroke and D3 Wesley College is not a great way to establish a winning football culture. I remember seeing a lot of former classmates tailgating at games those first few years that I have not seen since.
In hindsight we probably should have started football with an experienced head coach that could have established a more competent foundation. Chuck Amato was rumored to have wanted the job.
UTSA had Larry Coker set the tone. We needed someone like that.
Iād say Major was our worst hire of all time. Not because of how he did on the court, but the context of it. We had just fired our winningest coach ever saying he had become sub standard for us. If that is the case, you donāt hire a no name guy who wasnāt the best assistant on his team. That next coach needs to be an obvious statement. I guess it was a statement, but the opposite of what it should have been.
The curse of Bobby Lutz
clt says letting odom go hurt a lot
Yeah Major took over a successful program NIT being the consolidation prize and NCAA always possible. He made the NIT once and over saw the continued decline of the program.
Sucks because under Bobby we had begun the decline and gone from NCAA as expectation to NIT being regular. We needed a coach to stop that and get us back right before we almost all momentum.
Then from Major we just hit a free fall that we are still stuck in.
Itās insane we have run thru PH and JD and Jahmir and have one NIT to show for it.
clt noticed major at a harris teeter one day, he was wearing a hat
Any idiot can be a podcaster.
Just listened to the podcast. Nothing groundbreaking announcement but good to hear the ADās insight in their own words.
The bar is extremely low, did you hear ADs synopsis of Football season??
Fixed the broken link.
