As a former Indoor track guy (HS ) appreciate those Championships counting the same as a Football championship!
Iād trade all 5 for MBB championship
I love going to the break room at work and rubbing all our indoor track championships in everyoneās face. Champions U baby!
On that interview Podcast the interviewers kept saying that to our ADā¦ā¦ ok, But what about the āBarber Shop Sportsā, referring to Football & Bball is what is discussed when it comes to a school and Athletics. They said it a couple times to get the conversation back to Football.
clt says everyone at the barber shop is talking wnba
Going to assume Hill is in Las Vegas at this weekās NCADA convention and that heāll report on it once heās back.
Matt Brown of Extra Points is there and reported on NCAA prez Charlie Bakerās speech, which included:
Hopefully heās committed to that āreducingā part.
clt says we need more prop bets
Iād trade all five for a conference tournament win in basketball or an FBS home win in FB.
Mike Hill is a failure. People in corporate America getting paid $700k+ per year get fired all the time for not delivering results. We are coming up on seven years of him being at the helm. Basketball is no closer to making the NCAA tournament and football is arguably one of the worst programs in FBS. Giving is up a few pennies and we won a couple irrelevant sports championships. Whoopdeedoo!
Mike has some flaws for sure and fundraising is the biggest issue.
Basketball beat a ranked team at home last season and finished 3rd in a very good American that produced two NCAA teams. How is that not closer to making the NCAA tournament? Maybe we should revisit Mark Price years?
I get that we love gloom and doom here but football has yet to play a snap. Come back and complain next week when some football has been played.
We then proceeded to lose our best players. Last year is yet to be seen if it will produce forward momentum into this year. We had no chance of dancing last year, failing to win a conference tourney game, in embarrassing fashion to a team we should have beat I might add. So while we may have had a better record, we were no closer to dancing.
Mike Hill has been an abject failure for revenue sports. He continues to cheerlead for sports the water cooler folks donāt know exist to justify his successes. Exactly like the person he was hired to replace. If it was up to me, this would be his hot seat year. Heās had long enough and so far his stamp on the program has been mind bogglingly unconventional, head scratching hires in football. One on paper hire for basketball that looked decent but I only needed to see the opening press conference to see that we hired a guy with zero accountability. Turns out he wasnāt even high character, tucking tail and abandoning his players. He never did anything noteworthy and absolutely hated the fans. Then we hired an interim after a failed coaching search. His results are TBD after Hill lucked into a good first year with his backup choice.
Put simply, Mike Hill has done absolutely nothing, zero, to demonstrate he is capable of running a competetive D1 programās revenue sports. Or perhaps heās demonstrated that he is well capable of doing exactly what he was hired to do.
I agree. If biff doesnāt work out, he needs to go, regardless of how fearne performs
So cool for him to mention the supplies drive.
I get your viewpoints on some of this, but blaming Hill for ālosing our best playersā is absurd.
Almost 1200 division 1 menās basketball players transferred after last year. Our players left for money as they have since the portal and NIL box was opened up. It will keep happening. Blaming Hill is ridiculous.
Iām sorry you interpreted it that way. If you re-read my post you wonāt see anywhere that will. Blame hill for the transfers. I wasnāt blaming Mike for the portal. My point was that heās been a failure and that while we had a fun year, it wasnāt a great year an ld it wasnāt a year that we can automatically build on since we lost a bunch of our best guys. I wasnāt blaming him for that, just pointing out that heās done absolutely nothing to get basketball where it should be.
Even hiring Fearne was a backup move.
