OT: Coach firing time

Amaker also had a rough playing field since he had work with sanctions thanks to the fab five.

very true, lutz has been to the tourney way more than him. However, in his one time, Amaker won more games, than lutz ever has.

Wow, a whole 1 more, what a legend. And he hasn’t been back since.

Talk to me when he’s gone back 4 more times. Then he’ll at least equal Lutz’s trips.

stand corrected, they each have two wins. Amaker knows what the sweet 16 feels like though.

I hope to God that when Amaker makes it 4 more times, lutz has at least made it once so they are not tied. But hey, I think some people would be okay with him not.

*I do not want Tommy Amaker.

amaker’s replacement possibilities:

According to ESPN.com’s Andy Katz, some of the names up for consideration to replace Amaker include Washington State’s Tony Bennett, Southern Illinois’ Chris Lowery, former Golden State Warriors coach Mike Montgomery, UNLV’s Lon Kruger, West Virginia’s John Beilein, Xavier’s Sean Miller, Cal’s Ben Braun as well as ESPN analysts Rick Majerus and Steve Lavin. Katz also reported that Kentucky coach Tubby Smith could be a candidate, if he’s available.
Absolutely not. Amaker never should have gotten the job to begin with. Top that off with he never did anything while there we certainly don’t need him here.
Agreed, Amaker sucks.

Sean Miller is of course a hot name at the moment and possible Amaker replacement. I went looking at the Xavier board, I know some on this board stick by the a10 to your death, but none of you are this bad:

Miller may be under consideration by Michigan but there's no way he would go there. Michigan is a lateral move at best (and that's only because of the Big 10) and probably a step down. They've got a lot of problems.

Michigan is a lateral move/step down??? Wow, I guess it true what Cincy say about Xavier…

How may division 1 have been fired so far? 30? That almost 10%…is that a record?

USF, Utah, Liberty, and N. Illinois have narrowed their search. Lutz isn’t mentioned for the USF job anymore.
Other candidates on the USF radar are VCU’s Anthony Grant and Florida assistant Larry Shyatt, although Grant doesn’t reciprocate the Bulls’ interest.
Larry Shyatt? He couldn’t win at Clemson, how could he win in Tampa?

Pete Gillen has talked to them and AD Doug Wolard wants permission to speak with Tom Moore of UConn.

Grant looks really poised on the sideline, but if I’m a big program, I want a guy who has run an entire 4 year cycle with a team like VCU, bringing in his own recruits, before I offer a big contract.

Humorous tidbit about Travis Ford from Matt Vautour’s UMass sports blog:

Two reporter friends of mine (who don't cover UMass) called me yesterday to make sure that I was aware that Travis Ford was in Tampa interviewing for the South Florida job. I found this particularly interesting because the first message came while I was in Travis Ford's office talking to Travis Ford.

seth greenberg couldn’t win in tampa, but he is winning in blacksburg.

I just want to remind you guys that I’m still available for the Charlotte job if needed. USF has contacted me in regards to the Bulls job, but we are keeping it on the down low for top secret reasons.

What’s going on at Long Beach State?

"...upon an extensive review I came to the conclusion that a foundation had not been built to ensure long-term success," athletic director Vic Cegles said in a statement.
Somebody is setting standards a bit too high. Two years ago, they were one of the worst teams in the nation.

If we played on a neutral court, they would have been favored.
