Phil Jones
I want the guy to play, but from what I hear he’d get limited minutes anyway. You think it would really be that big a loss if Jones couldn’t play vs Hofstra?
I don’t know. I haven’t seen him in a game situation, but I certainly think at the least, his size would be of value downlow. After Coleman’s play last week, we need someone with meat on their bones down there. And no I’m not saying they need to gain weight! It would be really nice. I just feel incomplete after all this and he isn’t suited up…

It might not be that big a loss if he can’t play vs. Hofstra. It’s very possible Jones still needs some more conditioning before he competes at the high level he is expected to grow into. Don’t forget, he was a late signee and lacks the summer league and practice experience of the other freshmen on the team.

I think what hurts is not having him available for North Texas. Since our starters are going to be spent after the Hofstra game, UNT will be a great way for the new guys to show what they can do. Not having another set of fresh legs in Phil Jones may hurt.

At worst, he’d be 10 more fouls on a big guy over 2 games back to back. That would be useful this weekend until a rotation is set. After Antwon and Courtney, this team is thin in the middle. And one of them saw limited action Saturday as it was.

Thank you NCAA! Expect a ruling Tuesday or Wednesday.

My biggest concern is if and when Twoon’s back flairs up again we will be very thin at the post.

If that’s the case we are in for a long year. We should be able beat a North Texas with a good intramural team.

Do you know that for sure, or are you just guessing?

We landed Phil over two months ago. Were we late getting the paperwork submitted, or are they just THAT slow to review it?

I will submit a question at LL asking for a quick Phil Jones update.

I will be enjoying good food and quality beer awaiting an optomistic response!

No Max, I don’t know that. It’s just how the NCAA drags their feet on everything.

I’m starting to wander if the NCAA comitee is composed of men and women who were previously employed in the construction industry…

The problem is definitely not us. All of the paperwork has to be received from the schools. And the NCAA takes a lot of time with kids who have multiple HS’s…especially those that passed through ones on the ā€œwatchā€ list (Laurinburg and Philly Lutheran).

How long have you been a Niner fan? You should know that the games we should win easily regardless of injuries or anything else are ussually the games that we struggle to win or actually lose.

Another thing the NCAA has screwed up. They should take responsibility for their own actions (and the timing of those actions) by letting any players still under review play in games until they have a final ruling. Give that whole ā€˜innocent until proven guilty’ thing a try. If they find him eligable all they will have accomplished is making us lose a potentially important player for two games simply because they were slow in their review process, how is that fair?

ie Valparaiso?

If they let them play and then end up disqualifying them from the team I think they would take the wins from the team. Isn’t that what they do if they catch someone midseason? I know it is on the High School level…

6 minutes… That’s what i was reffering to.

someone said they were gonna ask at LL right?

Yes, NLP did…
I will submit a question at LL asking for a quick Phil Jones update.
Gill, I don’t know if you went to LL in the past but they often allow you to write down questions for Lutz as a member of the audience.
