Ryan Murphy to transfer from Charlotte

Wow! Tell us more!

With that vert, I canā€™t wait to see his dunks from the 3 pt line!!! His 3 pt % should go WAY UP!!!

It is astounding to me that every single time a player picks ECU that player is exactly who wol fart wanted, and every time they donā€™t, wol fart is glad they picked someone else.

With a record like that itā€™s shocking that ECU has had one good basketball player in 30 years.

There is no doubt Dooley wanted Murphy, hell he even offered his little brother Luke Murphy his first scholarship who is a Jr in high school and averages 6.8ppg on 33% three point shooting last week I assume as makeweight to get him. Tulane did the same a day laterā€¦

I donā€™t get it. We need someone who can actually make threeā€™s at an above average rate if they are a 3 point specialist. Iā€™m not going to pretend like I really wanted the guy, you can find post praying he went elsewhere weeks before he committed or last year when we recruited him.

Also we havenā€™t got Silver or any replacement. Wichita State, Temple, Oregon State and others having offered as well itā€™s going to be a tough get. I just donā€™t think we can do worse than Murphy and honestly Iā€™d rather just run back what we got if thatā€™s the alternative. If Murphy committing yesterday and impacted Silvers decision even a few percent today I would have have barfed.

ā€œitā€™s shocking that ECU has had one good basketball player in 30 years.ā€

We got 2 GREAT players on the team right now that are both underclassmen. Gardner obviously is going to be one of the best players in the country returning but Newtonā€™s trajectory and how he played in the AAC puts him right there as well.

Newton led the AAC in assist to turnover ratio on the year the year despite one of the five the worst 3 point shooting team in the country where he was one of the only decent shooters and couldnā€™t even pass to himself or anyone else to get an easy assist.

In the 18 AAC conference only games Newton was 13th in the AAC in Player Efficiency Rating and the last 10 games he was on and even better trajectory. 16.0ppg, 6.1rpg, 3.5apg, 1.4spg.

The rest of the team was trash and Iā€™ve not been impressed with Dooley but there is no doubt we have 2 GREAT players.

lmao. Iā€™ll look for you guys in the preseason top 25.

Hope we get to have a 2021 season so ECU wonā€™t lose their natty

Every time I ignore this guyā€™s posts, he shows up in another thread. Taking cues from covid-19 apparently.

Basketball is a team game, and the supporting cast and coach make up a lot of difference as well. I noticed you didnā€™t dispute the talent of either Gardner or Newton though. They are clearly top 10 players in the AAC returning and itā€™s one of the best conferences in the nation. Thatā€™s just a fact. We might figure a way to screw it up signing guys like Murphy who canā€™t shoot and thatā€™s his only skill but there is an easy path to see how we improve a lot quick. 347th ranked 3 point shooting needs a few good shooters and that would make a big difference.

I wasnā€™t impressed with Newton at all. Gardner is legit. The pg with two names shredded us. was embarrassing.

Maybe you guys can finish top 10 in the league

Newton started the season off great when when Robinson-White was injured starting at PG in place of him. When Robinson-White came back from injury Dooley benched Newton like and idiot and the guy played scared to make a mistake for about a third of the season. When he finally got back into the lineup at starting SG he went nuts. Just look how he finished the season.

He is legit, could have been playing like the best player in the AAC by the last 5 to 10 games, certainly one of the few in that conversation.

No one is clicking that link.

If you are to lazy. Newton is a stud and he was doing that vs very good teams in AAC play.

We werenā€™t too lazy. We didnā€™t care.

Weā€™ll you are the exact person making the misinformed statement. Gardner and Newton are great players. So yeah there are 2 players in the last 30 years.

clt says no need to discuss newton anymore, he is a fee agent.

Well this is college basketballā€™s transfer season so while it wouldnā€™t shock me Iā€™m seeing no evidence of this. Go ahead and lay that link on me if you got it. All the other bad news in the world just add it beside of it.

Both of our program have been pretty good farm systems for the P5 the last few years. Elijah Hughes will probably play in the NBA after starting here and I think Newton will be the next one after him. Hopefully we can keep Gardner at least he is an NC kid. I could kind of understand a guy from El Paso leaving during these crazy times.

This guy better make a lot of money cause I see alimony to multiple ex-wives in his future. Commitment just ainā€™t his thing.

Charlotte, NM Jr. College, Pitt, Tulane. Amirite? Cup oā€™ coffee, anyone?

He didnā€™t have time to make any good friends, but he has the worldā€™s largest collection of size Small warm-ups.
