Season tickets in 113, 114, and 131.

Are you familiar with our donor base? it is small and already made up mostly of people who give small amounts. We just managed to get a good portion of them to bite on FSLs.
I know but getting the people who have never donated to the program and didn’t buy FSLs to start giving small amounts is the next step. I’m all for season tickets without donation once we expand. If asking for a $49 donation for 2 season tickets is going to alienate people from our program then we are more small time than we thought.
I don’t think forcing people to make a donation is the best way to attract fans. That sounds like CHP’s approach of “Hey, you’ve been out of school for 10 years. You should be giving more than you are currently giving”. I just don’t think we’re in the position to be turning any fans away.

I guess it depends on what you prefer. For me, I’d prefer say 18,000 season tickets, with about 14,000 donating to the athletic department. Opposed to 15,000 season tickets with 15,000 donating to the Athletic Department.

So let’s continue to let the students shoulder the burden with with fees rather than ask for a very modest donation.

Didn’t ODU require folks this year to make a donation to purchase season tickets?

They also had a waiting list a mile long for season tickets.

I don’t think they required it - but every so many years they resort their seating based on donor level. This keeps the fan base engaged to donate. For us the only motive now is your tailgate lot of choice.

Just like any good crack dealer, let them have a free sample. After they have tried it, they will pay anything for it.

As much as I dislike the fact that we were told we HAD to buy an FSL to get in the stadium and now people are buying season tickets, I realize it is important for us to sell that place out. FSLs were not the greatest idea, but I look at it as a permanent investment in the program. Phil was the mastermind behind it because he wanted a way to say ‘I told you so’ if football failed. He was too afraid to go out on a limb and back football 100% in the early days.

One of the goals of football was to showcase our school to the community. Folks in the community aren’t going to drop that kind of money on FSLs. Hopefully we can get folks hooked with these tix and they will invest more time/money in the program.

There was some outrage from fans who had tickets from the beginning but didn’t donate as they weren’t allowed to buy as many seats and the seats were in a worse location.

Again, if we had 30,000 people willing to donate and wanting 15,000 seats, I’d have no problem with that. Instead it seems we have about 5,000 people willing to donate and we didn’t fill a 15,000 seat stadium. That’s not even considering trying to quickly get to the 20,000 - 25,000 range.

I’m surprised tickets did not go faster, and the minimal effort the AD put forth in communicating it.

Not a good start for the AD in handling of football.

Did I miss an update on how many tickets were sold?

I haven’t seen any official update. If you go by the seat number ticket return is showing, there have been at least 700 sold.

The seat number is up to 1166 this morning. By my estimation that equates to 2 of the 3 sections being sold out.

I bought my 4 FSL’s and have great seats to show for it… I am also happy that those that couldnt afford to purchase an FSL or that might be a new graduate, (last few years) can be a part of building the tradition. I am happy to be a part of the founding 5,000 that will always have 1st choice for seats as expansion occurs. And also knowing that we helped make it happen.

My hope is that FSL’s continue to be sold every year and become the first option to get tickets for the next season and for best seating. I think the FSL strategy was the absolute best way for us to start a program.

The fair thing is for students and FSL owners to always have first crack at tickets. Expand slowly and always have fewer seats available than people who actually want to be in the stadium.

There are 1337 sold as of now. Also, they updated the seating chart with Richardson’s name on it.

so… the question is how far are we away from selling out the place?

Gotta be really close - I would imagine there will be a block of tickets released close to game days every game - the visitors, player families, etc. - outside of those blocks we have to be close.

What was it? Around 100 green FSLs left around time of Spring game and some higher number of golds?

Would like to think the greens are close to being sold out and non FSL season tickets sound like they are moving well, but I will be very surprised if the gold are sold out before season starts.

Fingers are crossed for 5K+ temp seats.

They are a done deal, light too… I heaard it from a source that once Lowes signs on we are all set…

;D
