The EV news thread šŸ”Œ

Hell of a lot better than gutting a working example of this model for some abomination of electric crap.

I remember seeing a truck drop off several old 1960-era broncos off at concord mills for test drives, about 3 years ago.

Manufactured energy crisis coming to a heating bill near you. Yay!

That’s pretty sweet, love that body style.

It’s still a rich boys toy and not a viable product for the masses. I appreciate the Innovation but I despair if these companies ever making an actual product for the average consumer.

I contend that anything under 10 minutes for a full charge ends range anxiety.

You can roll through a gas station faster than that, but on a road trip, do you normally?

I don’t. By the time we do bathroom, snacks, etc, we are usually about 10 minutes in. Helps to stretch too.

If you couple that with a casual eatery (eg burrito joint), it’s a perfect match. Recharge you and the car at same time.

And that’s the only time you will need a full charge. Most days you will charge at home overnight and wake up with a ā€œfull tankā€.

It’s just about a 25% gain away from overtaking Volkswagen AG, one of the world’s largest car producers, in market value. Meanwhile, Lucid has seen its stock price advance 339% this year. It went public via a merger with a blank-check company in July.

Buy some FSR. The pope endorses

Its over 3,000 acres…what could poss go wrong…Gastonia, the WV of NC

Some serious pushback on this from residents and Catawba River keeper but the company has basically paid off all the required elected officials. Clean energy my ass. I predict some serious impact to drinking water over the next 20/25 years.

I tend to agree with you here. A lithium mine is basically a strip mine from what I understand.

We need better batteries with less environmentally impactful components. I know the solid state researchers are aiming for better chemistry. Let’s hope they succeed.

It’s a shame that the energy lobbies and large oil corporations suppressed this research for so many decades. We could have had battery powered cars in the 80s. Then we would be a lot further towards clean energy and possibly staving off climate change.

clt says just use 5000 rechargeable aa’s

Hell, if they can do the tesla heavy metal strip mine, then let’s pitch in snd go get the thousands of ounces of gold the old miners left behind, the vast majority of which never had any use of gasoline or diesel engines.

They are in Lancaster.

I read not long ago about them getting into trouble for water pollution.

Nothing a little money can’t take care of lol

Yea lithium mining is not something you want next to any sensitive area, don’t know if it’s gotten better recently but that used to be really bad.

Lithium mining in Gaston county is nothing new. There was a mine in the south west part of the county back in the 60s and 70s if not sooner. Maybe this new one is close by.
