I drove NNs new whip. Great ride. There is also a 0% chance id take that Kia at $60k over a new C8 vette. NWA is right about the gutteral part not being there in the EVs.
Watch a 30 second clip of the new C8 Z06 with a 670 hp naturally aspirated V8. Its like sex. A Tesla plaid is like a very nice blowup doll. Seems to have eveythinf you want, but there is no soul to it.
Im a big fan of EVs generally, ive been in TSLA for a while. I think self driving is the future. I think electric ia the future too if we can get our infrastructure up to snuff. Id love to be able to commute in a self driving, silent EV and have coffee and read the paper.
But if I want driving experience, youll see me in the new mid engined Corvette, and even at the point where the cost is similar to a Model S, I want the vette and it isnt even remotely close.
I wouldnāt pay 60k for one either.
But that 60k is with a dealer 10k markup and before a 7500 tax credit.
Even after that, the pricing needs to come down. They need to reliably be under 40k for mass adoption
Another good video about cold and EVs
That tweet minimizes the concept. This is simply the first one launched I believe.
The charger was installed by PoleVolt which utilizes existing light poles for quicker and cheaper deployment.
This company was founded in our very own PORTAL, so we as niners should be proud and root for their success.

WTOP: Ford splits EV, internal combustion into separate units.
This will get heralded as an opportunity for consumers to cut out the middle man and save money.
I donāt see it that way. I think the mfgers have seen the market adjustments and want their cut of that.
Just gonna use the Tesla model. With evs needing less maintenance part of the money making side of a dealership is gonna be significantly reduced and the manufacturer doesnāt need them as muchā¦ Not surprised.
Is there a threat to traditional auto mechanics and auto parts stores in the next 20 years? Or do they just transition to EV?
There is a threat towards the end of that time frame.
EVs donāt need much maintenance outside of brakes and tires.
There will still be auto body work too, and I suspect a bunch of electronics specialists including moders.
Some of the most interesting work may be when companies start selling just their āskateboardā and let whoever make custom cabins for them
The modding will be interesting as I expect companies to lock that down with warranty voiding and perhaps even bricking cars that exceed manufacture guidelines
Donāt even really need much brake maintenance honestly. I just put my car on I-pedal mode and donāt need to use the brakes unless itās for something sudden. Iāve heard of Tesla owners having 250,000+ miles on the original brakes.
I have it in cruise control mode most of the time anyway and just let the car do most of the braking and driving.
This. My 500e doesnāt use the brake pads till it hits 7mph. Until then itās all regen. I doubt Iāll ever put brakes on it.
How are they on tires though? The torque on some of the more powerful motors is apparently rough on tires.
The more typical HP/torque ones probably not so bad.
