The Search for a New Men's Basketball Coach has begun

So Kelsey’s 81 ppg and McKay’s 75 ppg type offenses while both outscoring opposition by roughly 14 ppg wouldn’t be good enough?

Never will forget sitting behind Bob Huggins during a Sincy game at Halton. Gave him heck. Was rewarded with a picture on the front page of the Disturber the next day…from the waist down…

The same kind of guy Va is getting as an assistant?

I dont know that I’d be pumped to come here :grimacing:
Its been a giant mess for a long time…thanks Phil !

No Sanchez defense

No Princeton offense please. The Packline is fine with a good offense.

Well, definitely not going to have any Sanchez defense or offense from this point on.

Any chance Ron Sanchez eventually makes the 49ers Hall of Fame? He did leave a champion

Surrounding that postseason success have been nine regular season titles and an overall win percentage pushing 80 percent over 12 years (300-78), which is all the more remarkable when you consider McCollum oversaw losing campaigns over his first two seasons. In there have been gaudy single-season win totals, including a perfect, 38-0 season as the Bearcats captured their second national title in 2018-19.

Underpinning it all has been arguably the best offense — anywhere — in college basketball.

“He’s had a top-five offense on Synergy for six straight seasons, which means his teams are this good no matter who’s on the roster, and he’s done this despite being a defense-first coach,” said Will Warren, who runs statsbywill.com. “The first thing McCollum said to me when I asked about his offense was that he cares much more about defense and frets over that side of the ball more often, which is pretty funny for a guy who’s overseeing the best offense at any level of college hoops.”

McCollum Has an assistant head coach and an assistant coach. That’s it. Arena holds 2,500. It would be a big jump. Dude wins

I still like Richey.

McCollum is my number one choice. Richey is a very close second. Literally everyone else mentioned has some aspect that makes me uneasy.

Ok actually Chris Mack is my number one, but I doubt we could land him right now.

I agree that Ben McCollum has been very successful, and he has done it consistently over a number of years. Does anybody know his salary now? I am sure we would up his salary significantly. He would probably jump quickly at the chance to coach CLT. His resume is very impressive. We could get him here quickly so he could get to work. I would be very excited with McCollum as the new coach.

Richey in March 2023 signed a contract extension.

McCollum reportedly turned down Buffalo back in March so he may not be as easy to get as it seems. But I do feel like we have more to offer than they did so maybe we can get him.

My top two, probably dreaming, candidates are Mack & Marshall (I know there’s baggage)

After that I like Richey & Siddle

And close behind those two are McCollum, Lundy, Byington & someone mentioned Darrin Horn. Didn’t really know much about Horn but he looks like he could be a good retread on his way back up kind of candidate.

McCollum compared to Crean are polar opposites when it comes to big time v small time budgets, staffing, recruiting…Hill might even consider hiring an advisor to the head coach…any names cone to mind?

I agree but we may not be able to get Crean. I also like Lundy and Richey. But sure take Crean if he is available for what we can pay.

Crean? Seriously?! Maybe we could interest Rick Stansbury while we’re at it!

I believe you are right. I went back and looked again at crean’s record. Plus he was making $2 Mil a year.
