The Search for a New Men's Basketball Coach has begun

The gentlemen’s agreement didn’t work out so well with Houston…I’m betting Mike won’t take another shot at gentlemen’s agreement again.

Would Fearne run the same offense as Sanchez? I hope I never watch the Niners run the Princeton offense ever again.

I may be wrong, but didn’t at least our board credit some of occasional slight changes in our offense to Fearne?

Would not be adverse to having Fearne as head coach next year with Dinkins promoted to assistant head coach

also while I’m not big on the idea of going the nba route. if for some odd reason mike hill did that it better be someone like a stephen silas or luke walton type of hire.

Fearne has a European background so I’d say no.
Probably more 3’s and dribble drives.
Kotie Kimbell on the other hand, was brought in to teach the Princeton offense for Ron, if I’m not mistaken.
Really liked Kotie but dont want to ever see that again :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Fearne actually has a background as a pro player and coach in the NBL of Australia and New Zealand, as well as a stint coaching the latter U-19 team. Played collegiately in the US.

Move on from anyone on this staff

Rossamondo won twice as many games this year as Healy with half as many chances. The right person can make a big difference in a small amount of time.

Let’s drag this guy out of retirement:

Brice left for the $$$s and a power 5 conference.

Though one can argue whether the UNL program itself is P6 level.

Given the timing, I would assume this wasn’t Mike Hill’s plan this off season. Because why wait until now.

How often is a new HC hired in June? Imagine hiring away another D1 coach and that domino this late in the game (although I don’t think is likely).

I’m really curious to see who Mike Hill hires.

Our next HC will be…
  • Current NCAA D1 Head Coach
  • Current NCAA D1 Assistant Coach
  • Former NCAA D1 coach but not coaching a team currently
  • NCAA D2 Coach
  • NBA/D League Coach

Maybe Sanchez tried to use the UVA opening as leverage for an extension & Mike didn’t fall for it & viewed it as an opportunity to go in a different direction. Probably wasn’t the way Hill planned it but still accomplished what he knew was coming after next season. Just me guessing because the timing is strange.

Been looking over some of the Coaching Carousel threads and reminded that now Mizzou coach Dennis Gates was hired by Cleveland State in July 2019. Other examples but that one stands out. FWIW, he didn’t have any HC experience prior to being hired by the Vikings and then landing in the SEC three years later.
