To list a few

"When Hall completed her training, they said she was only a civilian and headed up Syracuse University’s unit of peace officers which are not full-blown police officers. "

If you don’t think Dubois and his gang are politicians, wait 2 more days when an annoucement on this is made.

On November 27, a Charlotte television station aired a report that raised questions about Chief and Director of Police and Public Safety Marlene Hall’s qualifications for her position. The report was based on contents of a letter written by someone who identified herself as a “concerned parent” of a UNC Charlotte student.

This letter was not sent directly to a UNC Charlotte employee, but was received afterward.

In order to clarify any confusion that resulted from the report, the University confirms that Marlene Hall fulfilled all criteria set forth by UNC Charlotte at the time she was interviewed and hired. Namely, she was eligible for certification as a law enforcement officer in North Carolina. Each state has its own criteria for certification and it is normal that a law enforcement officer entering from another state will be required to fulfill certain training requirements. Chief Hall is working toward completion of North Carolina requirements by March 15, 2007.

Chief Hall is qualified to perform her duties Director of Police and Public Services at UNC Charlotte. The search committee who interviewed her and recommended her appointment determined that Chief Hall was the best qualified applicant to lead the UNC Charlotte Police Department. The university stands by that decision.

Facts regarding Marlene Hall’s qualifications as Chief and Director of Police and Public Safety at UNC Charlotte

•What are Marlene’s Hall 's qualifications for police chief at UNC Charlotte?

In addition to the Peace Officer certification from Syracuse, N.Y., Chief Hall also completed the Basic Police School in the State of Tennessee in 1989. She will complete approximately 100 hours of additional training in order to transfer her certification to North Carolina. Hall is working to fulfill those requirements by March 15, 2007.

•Did UNC Charlotte choose the most qualified person from among the applicant for police chief?

The UNC Charlotte search committee, which included two current and one previously certified law enforcement officers (in the state of N.C.), reviewed 54 applications for the position, telephonically interviewed 10 of those applicants, conducted on-campus interviews for 4 finalists (with various members of the faculty, staff, and campus police department), and determined that Chief Hall was the best qualified applicant to lead the UNC Charlotte Police Department. The university stands by that decision.

 1. I want to know the names of the people on that search committee that are still working for the University.

 2. The other 53 applications must look something like the list compiled by survivor for “fantasy Light rail”

where did the link to that playby pic of Hall on CB go?

trust me i understand the curiosity, but you aren’t missing anything. I was unfortunately eating at the time, i didnt lose it, but i wasn’t hungry any more.

HA i know what you mean - but i wanted to show my roommates…

i wonder if the other police officers that were on the hiring committee were on the same police force that had to forfeit all speeding tickets written because their registration was 10 months passed due or something?

They said on WBTV tonight that she had one day of training at Syracuse? Is that accurate?

This is a strange thread. What are you people thinking?

I feel for this woman’s pain, breasts. It’s weird. Come on, we all know one aspect of this story to be solidly true: no breasts, no story. Isn’t that comforting?

It is weird. (I’m not talking about the obvious hypocrisies noone’s mentioned: that posing nude ain’t a crime, that this isn’t communist Russia, that we’ve all spanked to Playboy, been naked, apply for jobs we’re not qualified for, applied for jobs we weren’t qualified for while being naked and looking at pictures from Playboy, etc.)

What were they supposed to do? Internet porn search the applicant?

Label the publicity good or bad, but the reality doesn’t matter.

And, screw the perception. Outside of a few people getting embarrassed by their Baptist peers, I don’t see much harm coming in the way of consequences. Maybe we shouldn’t even rule this applicant out. We’ll come off looking more professional if we stay the coarse, not cut and run.

Playboy pays the bills.

What I’m more upset about is there are students, people, humans getting robbed, raped and shot on a college campus and off. That seems like more of a problem to me. Call me crazy.

i don’t think anyone is really pissed about the playboy as much as she ISN’T QUALIFIED

I wondered the same thing. It was their radar detectors. Which also took with it any other citations written as a result of stopping people for speeding (i.e.- DWI). Oh well. Looks like the University has handled this well. It’s just bringing to light “the process.”

She appears qualified to me. Giggity goo. Alright! :silly:

NEWS RELEASE

UNC Charlotte Announces Pro-Active Community Policing Initiatives

CHARLOTTE – November 27, 2006 – As UNC Charlotte and the city respond to continuing growth on and around campus, officials at the university are taking a holistic approach of partnership and involvement in making the university a safe and welcoming environment.
According to UNC Charlotte Police Chief Marlene Hall, the university is implementing six measurable initiatives in efforts to effectively prevent crime. They include:
[]Enhanced collaboration, partnership and information sharing between UNC Charlotte and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Departments (CMPD). Collaborative efforts have led to three arrests for recent robbery and related crimes since August.
[
]Continued and increased visibility of campus and community police with the presence of a new CMPD University City – based North Division opening in January 2007.
To increase visibility of the campus police and CMPD on campus and in adjacent areas, patrols from both departments have already increased, particularly in areas surrounding the campus where most incidents have occurred.
[]Capitalize on the intellectual capital generated at UNC Charlotte by incorporating initiatives developed through research at the university. A crime prevention study is currently being conducted by Geography and Earth Sciences master student, Robert Huizar whose work includes entering crime data in a Geographic Information System to determine new methods of reducing crime.
Huizar’s findings have the potential to reduce off-campus crime in University City area hot spots and perhaps the greater city of Charlotte. Both Campus Police and CMPD are assisting him by providing valuable statistics and data and will review his crime reduction methods in spring of 2007.

[
]Continued collaboration with campus departments and organizations to determine areas of improvement – such as the current year’s investment of $312,500 for enhancements identified by students and administrators in the 2005 Campus Safety Walk. Safety walks are held annually and sponsored by the Student Government Association.
Every safety enhancement identified in 2005 has been addressed and fully funded by Chancellor Philip L. Dubois. Enhancements include repairing and increasing outdoor lighting around various buildings, repairing Blue Lights, trimming shrubbery, adding lighting around construction areas and main road accesses, and designing new lighting for other areas as identified. With the next Safety Walk set for November 28, Chancellor Dubois has already reserved additional funds for 2007 upgrades.
[]Empower students on and off campus to create a safe climate among the student body through programs such as the College Crime Watch currently being considered by the Student Government Association. A steering committee is being assembled to determine which Crime Watch initiatives will be adopted.
College Crime Watch initiatives include safety escorts, campus patrols, drug and alcohol abuse prevention, and self-defense, hate crime prevention, and peer mediation among others.

[
]Renewed focus on good neighbor policies among UNC Charlotte, CMPD, Off-Campus Student Services and Judicial Affairs to include neighborhood meetings for discussions with area apartment managers, clergy, private police, neighborhood association representatives. The university initiated a meeting several months ago to encourage all representatives to create opportunities to dispense crime prevention tips to residents. The participants are progressing towards meeting monthly.
Additionally, UNC Charlotte is studying ways to better educate students on how to assess safety features when selecting off-site housing and being a good neighbor. The department is in discussion with the director of Off-Campus Student Services to develop new ideas to enhance safety awareness for students in area apartments.
“The University is committed to a secure and welcoming campus. We will collaborate with our neighbors to ensure positive and lasting improvements in the quality of life both on and off campus,” said Hall
