I made the mistake of reading and then replied to one of them… “How can they still be part of the UNC system if they don’t have UNC in the name?!” If there’s one thing I seem to learn daily is that you can never underestimate just how many idiots there are. I’m pretty sure not even a 3rd of those in the UNC system have UNC in their name.
It does feel like the general public is anti-Charlotte U and I don’t get why either.
In my opinion, it’s not that the general public disagree with our decision, it’s that no one cares to put any effort into research anymore before providing comments to articles such as this. I call it the “Damn Facebook Syndrome”. People now read one article (and skim that), conduct no additional research, and then decide to insert foot into mouth.
The ones commenting probably live locally and have never stepped one foot on campus and never plan to. They also don’t follow or care about our academic and athletic successes/endeavors.
These people don’t bother me in the slight unless they are decision makers and influencers in the arenas that we need to progress in the future. Charlotte is doing something right because enrollment is up and within the next decade could be the largest school in the UNC System and NC in general. Throw some success in $$ sports into that mix, and the envious BS comments will be even more rampant.
I say, let them spout stupidity; it tells me we are doing something right. Jealousy comes in all forms.
Never ever underestimate the ignorance of Americans!!
My wife had a good friend that had 2 kids going to Charlotte and at every party we went to when we asked about how her kids were doing she woukd always trash the University. It blew my mind !! She would even do it knowing me, my wife and two of our other friends in the room also attended. Never had any use for her after that.
Emailed the bookstore back in early July to see if they would have any new Nike merchandise online soon. The merch that was on there had been the same stuff since last fall. I get it. Covid. I’ve moved on. But….
They mentioned that a lot of new Nike product would be coming online in august. I just checked the website and it’s the exact same stuff with the addition of a backpack….with our old logo.
Nice to see they got the memo with our “re-branding.”
We can argue about the details of this, but we can all agree that they are taking a step in the right direction. With this re branding, we may be looking at the smaller details, but the general person is just mainly going to be looking at the large text and the emblem. This going to help build the brand of just Charlotte. I think it is a really good step in the right direction.
People struggle with change at first and they will eventually get used to it. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the new logo at first, but now I love it. So maybe that means something for the future of this rebranding
I check everyday to see if they get new gear online. Our first game is next week and they haven’t updated anything in months. Still waiting to get a green polo with our new logo. It’s been a damn year and a half and all they have is small. Guess I’ll wear old logo to Duke game next week. Bookstore sucks! Just pathetic how they represent our school.
Maybe that’s just online. Was on campus this week with my oldest who’s going to grad school at Charlotte…physical bookstore looked packed with new gear. New branded University gear as well as athletic gear. I didn’t go in but walking by there were tons of shirts sporting the new branded logo all over the place.
When you go to the Duke game…go early and go by the bookstore on campus and check it out. You may be pleasantly surprised.
I’ll go this week. Was in there about a month ago and they did have some nice gear, but only sizes they had in what I wanted was small. Would have spent $250 on stuff but they didn’t have my size.
