So $900k moving to $1MM the following season. Pretty much in line with what Biff was making IIRC.
My level of hate went to DEFCON 5. You take the school I hate most and add the nfl coach I hate the most⦠Iāll be watching and hoping for this experiment to fail.
Thatās surprisingly lower than I expected. I wonder if itās got heavy incentives.
I fully expect him to be here the next five years and Iāll have the patience to let him build his own program. Glad we arenāt breaking the bank.
A winning season each year (or at least 0.500) will hold me over for the entire contract. Even if itās all 7-5 seasons.
Me thinks he wanted out of O-H-I-Oā¦
We are still on low end of AAC salaries. We need to step up corporate donations. I imagine the money we have to pay over the next 10 years for NIL lawsuits played a part and also NIL money has to affect coaches salaries now.
I guess Hill really found someone who wanted to be here.
Any info on why he would accept that small of a pay raise? Thats super surprising, i wouldnt have thought this job alone would take him away from a place he spent 20 years.
Definitely a good sign of our program and how its thought of thought if theres nothing else to it. I think weve missed hard on our last two hires and just need the right one to start at least a roll of multiple bowl games.
Probably a number of factors going on here. On the family front, both children now out on their own - daughter married with one child and son engaged to be married next Spring.
Professionally, has spent 20 years in Ohio Appalachia. If everyone being honest, MAC most likely will never be a factor in the CFP. As Ohio HC, secured schoolās first conference championship since 1968.
Also, as we all now know, Coach and his wife are familiar with this area having vacationed at LKN in the past.
While there are those who would turn down a $300K increase in salary - 43% more than the $700K at Ohio per the 2023 contract revision - I would think many wouldnāt say no. I couldnāt.
Just got to think Coach is ready for a new challenge.
Mid-life crisis
Geez I hope not. Donāt need a Petrino-esque scandal in UCity.
(BTW, was going to say scandal in the QC, but the likes of Jim Bakker, George Shinn, and Jerry Richardson āalready been there, done that.ā )
Same here. Doesnāt help that my brother has been texting me multiple times a day since Saturday to give me the update on the contract negotiations. Iād love nothing more to win that game and rub it in my brotherās face.
Iām very surprised at those numbers. Bobby Petrino was prob like thanks for wasting my time. Arkansas AD prob like, sure feel free to take huge pay cut. Guess we couldnāt compete with Billās upcoming salary.
Iām with you, if that really is true Iām shocked we were able to pull Albinā¦
Has he hired any assistant coaches or staff yet?
Offered the current Interim coach at Ohio to be assistant HC/OC but all depends on Ohio also offering him the head coaching job. Nevertheless, we wonāt know until after their bowl game on the 20th
I can see Ohio knowing this too, and making no rush to hire.
Next year if Albin was still at Ohio he would have been at Rutgers, hosting WVU, at Ohio state and home to Gardner Webb the first 4 games! I prefer our schedule lol
I hope Lew Caralla, our strength and conditioning coach, is retained somehow. Dude was born with that motivational speak.
I donāt understand why everyone is acting like itās a bad thing that we got the coach we wanted at a lower price than expected.
