He should be judged on a full season. Let it land where it lands. Heās had some bad losses. This is a good win.

Why will our team next year be made of mostly transfers? Are we just assuming everyone is going to leave again?
Heās gone 500 over all and in conference so far, if he goes 500 the second half I donāt see how you bring him back.
How what @Amnesiac1 says worries me, I just donāt know what Hillās view of success isā¦ if 500 in the AAC is we are screwed.
I said our new guys next year will be made up of mostly transfers probably. I actually donāt know off hand how many scholarship players are in their last year but Iām assuming we will filll gaps with majority transfers instead of true freshman. And I support that model actually. Tired of these freshman stinking it up for years.
If we end up .500 at the end of the season and he becomes our permanent head coach and yall still donāt believe Mike Hill doesnāt have our bests interest at heart then I donāt know what to tell yall. Iām not 100% out on Fearne but one win in a very mediocre first half of theseason hasnāt not made him the guy. We still have a losing D1 record so far. If we end up
15-15 or 16-14 and hire him Iām done until Hill is gone. I canāt support a problem run by someone that incompetent at Best, or more likely, actively malicious.
We are going to lose some bad games. Just donāt have the raw talent to win on the road.
Fearne canāt sprinkle magic pixie dust on these guys to create 3 point shooters.
Guy has kept us from being a total doormat this year after the crap bag he got handed.
Canāt wait until end of the season to make a decision.

Did Mike Hill do something bad to your family? You must realize it would not be in his own best interest to screw up his job here. I really donāt think he would do that intentionally.

Fearme has done a lot better than most of us would have expected. We are not a top 25 team but we beat a legit top 25 team. Sanchez screwed us over because Hill wouldnāt extend his contract after the CBI win. We lost our 2 top players and to stop a mass exodus Fearme was appointed. If he finishes above .500 in league play then he is a legit head coach. We should keep him and see what he does. Sometimes assistant coaches are better than the coach they worked for. We overlooked one (Ryan Odom) just recently.
You may not like him and the jury is still out on basketball and football hires but I believe he is a good AD and will get better. I hope i am right. If i am wrong you may excoriate me at a later date. Have a little faith. Itās more fun that way.

Totally agree, and that was my point, I have no idea what Mike HIll views success, if the middle of the pack in the AAC is good enough he has different views on success than most on here. Iām really surprised with some of the comments that that is good enoughā¦

Finishing .500 with this roster is significantly better than finishing .500 with Aly and Brice should they have stayed. The talent level has to come into the equation. That doesnāt mean I think .500 is good enough, only that we have to look beyond just the record.
My biggest concern isnāt actually with coaching. I think heās a good coach. The recruiting side is where Iām not sure he can get it done.

I donāt have anything against Fearne except his style of basketball. In the first half we dictated the tempo, played with speed and pushed the ball and took good shots. In the second half we went back to our old walk the ball up the court and pass the ball 14 times and heave up a 3 with 2 on shot clock. We folded under the tight D pressure in the 2nd half. Every team from here on out is going to pick us up full court and play man. Fearne should get an interview, he has a nice win on his resume but for him to have success he needs to show he can adjust the offence and defensive, IMHO
Finishing .500 in AAC play with this roster would be a hell of an achievement. If we still had Aly and Brice, Iād say .500 would be a disapointment.
Another thought I keep going back toā¦ We have screwed up so many coaching hires in a row, why not just extend Fearne and see what he can do? The kids love him and play their tails off, and he is clearly a well above average Xās and Oās coach. At this point I just donāt trust Hill to bring in Chris Mack or one of the hot young names.

I guess Aly off the bench for 15 minutes per game wouldnāt be so bad but I think our team plays better without Aly. Jackson is the center I like to have.

If itās not Fearne and getting in a recruiting talentā¦ I want to see us go for it. We have seen our attendance dwindle to the point we had 3800 for a top 25 final four matchup.
In our prime we averaged 7k+. I think itās possible to get back to that, but it canāt be without taking a monetary risk. If we got a winner in here, I could see 4-500k more in ticket sales and concessions not to mention the added enthusiasm in the foundation.
We have been so short sighted in cheaping out on basketball.

Our team beat 8, not 5. I have never seen such āfavoredā officiating as I did yesterday. Gave the appearance the conference wanted to protect a flagship, at least give them a chance to win. I think the officiating forced our style of play in the second half.
I respected Fearnās fire on the sideline. It gave our fan base hope and confidence. It energized the crowd. It rallied our team. We finally had atmosphere. And, we beat a ranked team once again!
He can coach. Now, can he and his staff recruit?
We need to know our possible coaching candidates and the dtermine the likelihood that we can sign them. Time is on our side now. It wonāt be in a few months. If not Fearne, we better hire someone extremely impressive. Fearne is a basketball coach like we havenāt had since Lutz.
Finally, someone needs to appeal to the league regarding the poor officiating regardless of the win. This should not happen again!

We also have to consider this is not his staff. Itās possible he could decide to make some changes. It is not like he hired any of them but the new addition when he was promoted to interim.
