I wonder if part of AD strategy for firing him mid season is it gives Healy a little more time/notice to find his next off-setting buy out $$$ coaching job.
Please be careful in your public Healy bashing. He is a media savant. WFNZ openly talking about how he is likely to land a p5 coordinator job this morning. (We all know that wonât happen).
Just remember that all those media types love him and donât know what they are talking about. But they do pretty much control public perception in the area.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
I feel like it is more about getting a jump start on locking in someone new. Less chance of the Mike Houston situation if you can lock it down mid season. And personally, maybe a little about Mike Hill making a point about his expectations to the ones that have doubted him.
Yeah & Hill should know who knew before it was leaked so I hope he narrows it down & takes action. The other possibility is someone on Healyâs side leaked it. He had to know what was coming when he was called in for a 10:00 Sunday morning meeting.
There are many who like Will and know what they are talking about.
He did not get it done as a coach. It doesnât mean you canât still like him. We are all more than our jobs.
Healyâs issues are twofold:
-
Coaching family is too small. He doesnât have a large pool of people to draw from to fill spots they are qualified for, or large enough base to send folks not getting the job done out to train more.
-
Dovetails with #1. His age. His unwillingness to bring in folks he doesnât have history with is a handicap for someone with a small coaching family to draw on.
He needs to go off to a Clemson or other P5 and position coach his way into the Offensive Coordinator position. Learn to add Xâs and Oâs while expanding his coaching family footprint. If he goes back to HC at a FCS I think thatâs where it ends for him.
I wouldnât be shocked to see Healy on Mack Brownâs staff next season because I know they are friendly. He should try hard to get on Sabanâs staff because that is better launching point in todayâs environment to get a P5 job than being a successful G5 coach. If he wants to continue to be a HC he could probably go to a team like Tennessee Tech that is struggling and try to turn them around.
I have seen maybe 2 or 3 tweets that I felt were a little over the top in the criticism of Healy. Most say the same thing âI really like Healy as a person, I wish he had been able to get it done here, he just didnât win enoughâŚetc.â
Yea that quotation is the prevailing sentiment, almost of us liked him and wanted him to win (and not just for selfish reasons). The AD really had no choice with how bad things have gotten on the field.
I assumed that Healy called Fowler back but you are correct the tweet just said that Healy called him.
I donât care if he found out on twitter or a little tweety bird told him. If he didnât know he was gone by being 1-7 and getting boatraced by a bad team on homecoming then he just not a realist.
Ruhle isnât an option, too big of a name and a P5 gonna sign him. I personally think Holtz is a good option but I wonât pretend to be in the know. I do want a proven guy that at least had a modicum of success as a head coach and we canât go out looking for a bargain.
And oh yeah, fuck the ObserverâŚ
I reached out to healy at 9am on Sunday morning. He didnât know a thing⌠asked what I was talking about. He then reached out to others.
It isnât about just Will but about how the players and their families found out and if we have a leak in the AD. For an employee, any employee in any field, to find out they are being let go by any means other than official channels is garbage and disrespectful.
Yeah, he told me he was enjoying his eggs and bacon.
I guess that could be a third option, that Fowler is a bad journalist and Healy was in fact calling him back.
Letâs not forget the whole Houston debacle where both sides accused the other of leaking the negotiations. I assumed Houstonâs side did that to get more offers but "if "Healy found out by Twitter who knows.
Iâd fire someone if I knew who it was, itâs bush league and inexcusable.
Sure itâs bush league and a firable offense. Doesnât change anything though. Heâs gone and heâll get a nice buyout. As I said he had to know he was gone.
Did I mention fuck the Observer?
I mean we all knew it was coming, at some point, but there are still steps and protocols to follow. It makes us look terrible and hell it could impact the people interested in the role next.
I agree. Investigate, find the leak and sever it.
You forgot to say âFuck the Observerâ
