I will be shocked if Healey isnāt here for a min of 4-5 years.
In the end he gets paid to win football games. If he were to go 6-6 the next two years his social media acts arenāt going to be viewed so favorably by most of the fan base. As it was said earlier, he has 1 win against a team with a winning record. Iād like to see more. Letās see how the bowl game goes and how his first recruiting class ends up then talk extension/raise. I have full confidence in Mike getting this right.
And if you think the primary objective of these social media stunts is to raise the profile of Charlotte football, I think you may be mistaken.
What would social media posts be for then? Social media is a way of increasing your profile/brand awareness.
I have no doubt he is increasing his social media profile. Thatās my point.
Translation: He takes his shirt off during Club Lit this is very unbecoming of a coach. Coaches should be as boring as drying cement.
āAnd if you think the primary objective of these social media stunts is to raise the profile of Charlotte football, I think you may be mistakenā
He is saying that his primary objective may be promoting the Healy brand first
You guys are focused on Healy, but my concern is how do we keep the coordinators, West and Atkins from moving to the P5 or taking a head position in FCS. If Healy is a smart guy like I think he is, he knows that he needs to keep his group together to keep moving forward. Not saying that he canāt do it without those guys, but it would be more challenging for him.
I think we are blessed to have Healy. I think it behooves Healy to improve the Charlotte brand, and thatās ok and a good thing for all parties.
I think questioning our coachās integrity and motives thatās had the best Niner season in 15 years its absolute insanity. This is why Coachās Move on so quickly.
I think branding wise and football wise, Healy is the best hire we could have possibly made. Not to mention, by all accounts heās a great person, and our kids not only look up to him, but they love him.
Scott Satterfield had five winning FBS seasons in a row, the WORST of which matched Healeyās best, where he had three 10+ win seasons, and won three bowls in a row before being scooped up by a P5. Why in the WORLD would we think if it took Satt that long that Healy would be hired away immediately? We are crazy. Assistants, maybe, but man we always think the sky is falling around hereā¦
ā¦ cause it usually is.
People talk about the one win over a good team.
Letās walk down Alabamaās schedule a little.
A. Alabama didnāt beat a team with a record better than 7-5 this year (Southern Miss, Texas A&M, and Tennessee).
-
Texas A&M didnāt beat a single team with a winning record.
-
Tennessee beat two teams with winning records (Kentucky and UAB).
-
Kentucky beat one team with a winning record (Louisville).
-
UAB has one win over a winning team (LaTech).
- Southern Miss beat one (UAB).
Itās not like itās some major outlier.
This is spot on. We just need to slow our roll a bit. Take all the facts as it relates to winning football games and then decide what to do. I am confident Mike will do that.
All the social media stuff certainly raises his profile and in turn raises the programs too. But if it is absent consistent winning it means nothing. On the other hand consistent winning (8-10 a year) would certainly raise the programās profile absent all the social media stuff.
@NotSoNewNiner bring on Alabama
clt bets heals takes the dallas cowboys job
Iām not questioning anyoneās integrity but Iām also not anointing anyone as Christ after 12 games. He seems to be a great guy and represents the program well. But his ultimate goal (as it should be) is to get paid. I hope he does because it means he was highly successful on the field at Charlotte. That is my hope for the program.
We are crazy. Assistants, maybe, but man we always think the sky is falling around hereā¦
Some think this way. Many do not.
If you guys are worried about losing a coachā¦ be worried about losing Atkinsā¦ Healy will move on at some point, I just donāt think its after year 1.
Enjoy the ride and worry about that other shit laterā¦
I remember how bummed I was when Watkins left for TAMUā¦ Hell, Iād love to be as down as I was then because we needed a new coach to get us over the hump to the Sweet 16. I should have been enjoying some damn good results rather than fretting Melvin leaving for greener (very literally) pastures. Upward mobility for our coaches is the best possible outcome realistically.
clt is hearing lutz or amato to backfill if heals leaves
I have dreamed about having a coach somebody else wanted. I am not going to worry about this, I am going to enjoy it.
Atkins left Tulane (in the magical AAC), where he was the Asst HC and OC, and had been for three years. He left that to come to a start up in C-USA. Atkins is here because he knew Healy, had worked with him before, and wanted to be in a program run unlike others. He will leave to run his own team at some point, but I bet he would rather continue to develop his vision for how he will do that under Healy than to spend two years at a big program under an old-school coach. Clearly this is a man that sees the difference.
Think of it this wayā¦If Healy does leave he will leave the program in MUCH better shape than before and thus more desirable to attract other good coaches. Same with players, much easier to bring in now than it was last year.
