Xavier Post game

Can’t be longer than what the season felt like - I found being a decent team missing open shots much more frustrating than being a bad team. I am just glad I don’t have to watch us miss shots and FTs for awhile.
This is the last loooooooong offseason, too. Football next fall. Spring game just after basketball season ends. ;D
Hell yeah!

Any player that does that when they play on a sub-500 team says alot. I would hope he understands that individually showboating when you’re losing makes you look like an idiot…and someone who only cares about his own stats (not the team’s).

Not the type of leadership we need…especially with him being a Sr next year.
So he’s gone from disappearing and not showing any fire to showing fire and only caring about himself. f***ing retarded, this board is.

The only thing Braswell wasn’t was enough. Had an amazing game but no one rose with him to the challenge.
I like Bras…he plays hard and is the best player we put on the court.

I just made the comment that we need leadership on the court…that you would expect to come from a Sr who is the best player on the team. And, in my opinion, the type of leader we need is not one who showboats on his individual success when the team is 13-16.

Prior leaders we had on the court that wouldn’t showboat even on good teams:

 • Henry Williams
 • Eddie Basden
 • Jobey Thomas
 • Demarco Johnson
 • Jarvis Lang

We need a talented leader…was hoping Bras could be that guy. Don’t see it right now…maybe that changes by this time next year.

These are the kind of statements that prove you to be utterly ridiculous.

13th seed 2011 (7 players) and 12th seed 2012 (13 players) and you consider that getting better. :o

Do you know anything about this game or progress?

We need a closer as well. That is usually a guard. A guy who can win you the game with the ball in his hands.

A big man requires someone to get him the ball, which is why big men arent usually closers.

The same Henry Williams that asked Coach K in Cameron if they were going to guard him in the second half?

Eddie Basden was a huge trash talker and a big showoff after he made a play. In fact, they show footage of him showing off at every home game.

Our best players have always been cocky and always shown off. Diego blowing kisses, Demon popping his jersey. Great players know they are great and want you to know it too.

Bras is a team player and a leader on the floor. He is also our best player.

I am with PB on this. I want our guys to have that swagger - talk some shit and back it up. Bras’s problem isn’t the trash talk it’s that he sometimes lets the refs and other players to get in his head and it can have a huge impact on how he plays. Just need him to stay mentally tough.

I’m not going to belabor the point…because what began as a simple point is being blown out of proportion.

But there is a HUGE difference between trash talking/swagger…and showboating.

Diego & Demon were show boaters…and that’s why I didn’t mention them. Henry and Eddie NEVER showed off after a play. The highlight reel at halftime shows the Basden steal and dunk on a Memphis player and after the play he simply leans against the goal with the ball behind his head.

That’s what I like…the leader that expects to make the big play and stays focused for the team.

Yes. I know that the 12th seed is better than the 13th seed. Pretty simple. Now you see why I said “Marginally better”? You could also make the argument our conference schedule was must tougher this year. 6 teams .500 or worse this year in conference. Last year 8. However, that is beside the point.

It is evident that the standards by which you determine marginal progress are very LOW.

It is also clearly evident that you choose dismiss the fact that last year we had 7 scholly players. Threw our best player off the team and went to battle with a brand new coach.

How good do you think this team would be if we threw Braz off 4 games into the season.

Our awesome climb from 1 notch lower than the worst team in the A-10 tourney to the worst team in the A-10 tourney is more attrition than us “getting better”

Lasalle, got marginally better. Umass and St.Joes got much better.

Charlotte and Fordham are the only two teams in the league that for the last 2 years have been consistently BAD.

Lasalle got marginally better. 20-11 and 9-7 in conference. They won 3 more conference games and 5 more total game.

Charlotte 13-16 and 5-11 in conference. We won 3 more conference games and 3 more total games.

To me, those are very similar. I guess I value marginal by 3 wins. 10% of total games. If I took 10% of your wages would that be marginal? No, you would say that is a lot. However, 3 more wins than the season before is better no matter how you slice it.

Trolling people about semantics now… good lord.

Dude you can dress up a garbage can all you want. ITS STILL A GARBAGE CAN. We stunk last year and we stink even worse this year, no matter how you calculate it.

Nice. I never said anything to the contrary. All I said was we got marginally better and then proved it to you. Have a nice day.
Evic game us 17 min a game, 3 points and 2 rebounds per game.

Looking at Rivals, here are comparable players to him coming out of high school, all 3 stars.

Dominique McKoy URI, 14 min, 3.1 point 2.1 rebounds.
Josiah Moore (Norcross teammate) Nebraska, 8 min, 1.8 points and 0.6 rebounds. Also of note, his 3 star teammate that went to Richmond redshirted.
Keaton Miles, WVU, 13 min, 1.5 points and 2 rebounds

hits refresh

Bernard Morena, Auburn. Did not play
David Rivers, Nebraska, 8.6 minutes, 1.1 points 0.9 rebounds
Roosevelt Jones Butler, 28.1 minutes, 8.2 points and 6.2 rebounds

hits refresh

Andre Henley, left NIU before season started.
Devin Langford, Illinois. Did not play.
John Green, UCSB. 14 min, 5 points 0 rebounds. Only played in 1 game, against a D2 team.

I can keep going, i’m sure I’ll find another Roosevelt Jones but this is getting tiring.
I love this post so much.

Sound logic has no place on this board.

Davis at Kentucky is doing well as a freshman, so should Nickerson!

Hilarious is thinking Eddie didn’t talk trash.

I honestly don’t know what to feel about this team. We won more games which is good, but we did not get a marquee win which is bad.

Additionally I am not to comfortable with what we have comming in next year. There are no real stand out recruits to be excited about. Which leaves us hoping and praying that the freshman are all going to make a jump in ability. It just feels like we are going to watch this movie again next year.
That’s what I’m worried about. Sitting through this crap again isn’t going to be fun.
I have some advice for you. If you aren’t excited about any of the freshmen you saw this year or comfortable with the guys coming in next year, don’t attend the games. These are exactly the type of guys we need to get because these are the guys we are most capable of getting. We aint UNC. If you’re worried Major can’t mold these guys into better players, well that’s another debate. It’d be hard to argue JB and Braswell haven’t become better ball players under Major. Henry plays solid defense. Mayfield and Williams have shown improvement.

I don’t like the losses either but me and some others saw it coming quite some time ago. We tried to warn you people the direction we were heading. The juco lottery/streetball days are over. Get over it or don’t watch.

This thread rules. I’m all for talking the focus on us being a bad basketball team that has not improved one iota during the season… Keep it up!

Damn dude, he's a freshmen...

Not sure why that part is so hard to comprehend.

LOL!

God I love this board

What are we going to do after our last game? I will miss these post game threads. Will the final game’s post game thread continue through the summer?
